HEBREWS CHAPTER TWO.
READ HEBREWS 2: 3-4.
Is there any hope for those who “neglect” the great salvation given to this fallen world by a holy God? No, “how shall we escape”, there is no other way to escape. GOD Himself has confirmed the Great Gospel message with signs and wonders, miracles, gifts of the Holy Spirit - and He Himself bore them witness, these early disciples of Christ, who in the body heard the Saviour and saw Him risen from the dead. Don’t imagine that those “lovely” though unsaved relatives or friends of yours will be all right after they die. They will not, they will suffer the righteousness condemnation of the Creator of the universe.
READ HEBREWS 2:5-8.
Why did Jesus find it a necessity to take upon Himself a body of flesh? He had to RECAPTURE OUR LOST DESTINY! This was our destiny, and Christ has given it back to us:
1. Mankind was created in order to rule over all things;
2. We were put on probation, man was made a little lower than the angels for that probation;
3. Due to the Fall and Sin, mankind has not been able to rule over all things.
Mankind has nothing but wars, evil, rebellion against any righteous rule, weather
patterns that destroy and disasters across the planet;
4. Jesus came to complete mankind’s original purpose for us.
Mankind HAS got an intended
dominion over ALL THINGS, not just the political systems of the world.
Mankind was made to be kings of the earth. But, in the Man Christ Jesus
alone will that intended destiny become ours, and only when He comes again.
There are two fantastic phrases
in Hebrews 2:8,9, they are:
· “But now we see not…”
· And “But we see Jesus…”
What the first Adam lost in
the Garden of Eden, the Last Adam regained at Golgotha.
1 Corinthians 15:45.
The whole earth will be put under
Christ Jesus, the Bible tells us. He must come again for this to happen,
He is the great stone who knocks down the nations, and sets up a glorious,
holy, just and Godly regime for a thousand years, the Millennial Reign
of Christ. Read Daniel 2:34.
READ. Hebrews 2:10-18.
The Old Testament quotations in chapter two are remarkable. For instance in verse twelve we encounter Psalm 22:22, and in thirteen we see Psalm 18:2, Isaiah 8:17, 18 and 12:2. Psalm 22 actually foreshadows the Cross-, which Christ died upon. Let’s read them carefully. Christ opened up the Way so that we could not only never die, but that we could have Eternal Life, i.e. Divine Life which makes us sons of God, joint-heirs and holy or sanctified. Christ is the CAPTAIN or leader (same word as “author” in 12:2). The Captain of a saved company or community, those that God has given Him because and through what He has done (compare John 17:2,6,26).
Verse 15 has such a merciful, compassionate flavour to it! Here Hebrews shows us the human race, fallen and enslaved in fear of death for their entire lifetimes. Christ came to deliver all those who would come to Him from this legitimate horror and dread. If we look at Revelation 21:4 we see into the future when all
DEATH will be no more, no more pain
and suffering – ever again.
That wonder has been secured
for this world already by the glorious Son of God – Jesus Christ. No marvel
then that He is vastly superior to the Old Testament prophets and priests,
and Judaism under Moses. Thank God that YOU are a part of the Saviour of
the world, and that you are not trusting in this decaying world’s system.
Carry this to the ultimate and have FAITH in HIM entirely, in everything,
throughout your lifetime, don’t sink back into the stink of the departing
world’s chaos.
