QUESTIONS FOR romans CHAPTER ONE, 
AND ON TO romans TWO:

  1. There are four buildings, which can symbolize the Book of Romans.

What are they?

      (1) Is The Court House of God - chapters 1-5.

  1. Paul was truly an apostle of God. He had two qualifications to be called this.

What were they? 

3.      There are three defendants in God’s Court. The first defendant is seen in chapter one, 18-32. Who is that representative person? 

In chapter two: 1-16 another defendant gives his plea. Who is this? 

In chapter 2:17 through to 3:8 there is another class of persons presented. They demand to be acquitted because they are “religious.” Who are they? 

4. Who are charged with high treason against the Creator and Ruler of the universe?

                  (Romans 3:23). 

5. What does the book of Romans show to be the ONLY WAY to be saved? 

6. What really is God’s GRACE towards us all about? It is “unmerited favor” but what else is it? 

7. Who will finally judge the whole world in the time of the end? According to Acts 17:31?  In Romans the whole world was judged and found guilty of high treason. At the end, at the Great White Throne, the people of the world will be judged on their rejection of Christ Jesus as Savior and Lord!

Who is the Judge in John 5:22? 

8. There is Greek word for fools in Romans 1:22. 
What is that Greek word, and what does it mean in full? 

9. God shows us what he thinks of homosexuals in Romans 1:26,27.

He calls this perversion FOUR basic things. One is “un-natural” (“leaving the NATURAL USE”…”against nature”); one is “vile affection” – what are the other two? 

10. What does a “reprobate mind” mean? See Romans 1:28. Can you give an Old Testament passage (found in your studies) which opens up this verse and gives us insight into it?

  1. The Almighty Judge brings forth His SUMMATION in Romans 3:9. Two classes of people are found to be “all under sin” in this verse. Who is God referring to?
  1. Romans 3:10-12 comes from Old Testament references.

      Can you name these O.T. references? 

  1. Romans 3:13-18 comes from, originally, the Old Testament. Can you give these O.T. references?
  1. Apart from Jesus Christ has there ever been a person who was NOT fallen in SIN? (Romans 3:10). Give the verse in the Old Testament which contains the words “All we like sheep have gone astray……….”
  1. One verse in Romans chapter six shows the “sentence” and the “miracle”- what is that verse?

QUESTIONS FOR romans CHAPTER FIVE, Part One.

 

1.      What are the seven results of Justification in Romans chapter five? 

2.      Can you explain the difference between own STANDING and our STATE as Christians? Use your own words, and apply this in a practice way. For instance, can a believer sinning affect their STANDING IN CHRIST before God? How does our STATE change in our ordinary living with Christ Jesus, day by day?

3.      What is the assurance from God that is spelled out in Romans 5:34? How does patience, leading to experience leading to hope help us to endure life’s trials? Compare with Hebrews 10:36 and James 1:3 and comment.

4.      How does the Biblical HOPE sustain us as we go into the future? There are three things basically involved when we have HOPE in God for the future. List them.

5.      What did Andrew Murray say that should help us to have Biblical HOPE?

6.      There are a number of words for “love” in Greek, only three are used in the New Testament. What are they, and what do these words mean? 

7.      Can you explain Romans 5:7-9? Do so, as if you were explaining these verses to an unsaved person. As though you were seeking to win that person for Christ. 

8.      There are four statements about the Blood of Christ in your study notes. Each one has a Bible reference. Can you write down those four statements about the Blood? The first one is “INNOCENT BLOOD.” 

9.      The Greek word “orge” is used for God’s wrath in the N.T. The Blood of Christ saves us from that “orge.” There are three expressions of that wrath which we are saved from. What are they, what does the Blood save us from in regard to “orge”? Found in your study notes. 

    1. Why is Romans chapter five called the chapter of “the much mores”?

1.      What does the word “imputed” mean in the Biblical sense? 

2.      Can you explain the theological terms “Pelagian View”,

      Semi-Pelagian View”, and “Federal or Augustinian View”? 

3.      Finish this sentence, “I am not a sinner because I sin; …………………….” 

4.      What does the word in English “abundance” mean in old Latin? 

5.      Who was the Federal Head of the human race when the FALL into Sin took place? 

      Who is the Federal Head of the NEW CREATION human race? 

6.      What is the difference between Justification and Sanctification?

  1. Because we were buried with Christ in baptism, identified in His death, and because we have been planted together in the likeness of His resurrection, what two wonderful things have we been given?

  1. There are four most important questions answered in the book of Romans. I will put down the answers, you must fill in the questions:

Answer: Condemnation; What is the question? 

Answer: Justification; What is the question? 

Answer: Sanctification; What is the question? 

Answer: Preservation. What is the question? 

  1. What is like the “most beautiful jewel in the ring”?
  1. If you are a true believer you have all the NEWNESS of life described in Romans chapter 8. If everything is new, and it is, what have you got that is NEW? Give Bible verses as well.
  1. Can you be lost again after being saved by Christ Jesus? Can you again be condemned by God? Give Bible verses to prove your point, out of Romans chapter 8.

1. Did Paul write that the CHURCH had become Israel in the Church Age?

3.      Can Judaism and Christianity be mixed? Explain

4.      What was the “Shekinah Cloud” and what did it do? See your notes for answer. 

5.      When was this “cloud” of God’s Presence removed from Israel? 

6.      What “Covenant” from God has the majority of Israel rejected?

1.      What is really the source of righteousness? 
Is it our own good works when we try hard with God’s help? 

2.      Does Paul say salvation is difficult and remote?

     What verses can you give to show what Paul said in Romans chapter ten about this? 

3.      Why is the word “WHOSOEVER” so important in Romans 10:13? Joel, in the O.T., tells us about it too. In what verse? 

4.      Romans 10:14,15 are a program for what important subject, in FIVE STEPS? 

5.      Who has publicly declared that the Jews find God in a different way than Christians do! Is he right? 

6.      Both MOSES and ISAIAH predicted that God would reject Israel because of unbelief. Can you write the numbers of the verses where they did this? 

7.      What does Romans 10:20,21 show us about Israel? Isaiah 65:2 gives us the full picture. 

8.      How many centuries did God “spread out his hands all the day” to Israel? 

9.      According to Romans 10:1-3 how is righteousness made available for your own life? 

10.  In 10:6,7 a magnificent discussion takes place. What does it mean to you, personally, and what worries should it take away from you forever?

 

 

 

QUESTIONS FOR romans CHAPTER ELEVEN.

 

1.      Will God reject the nation of Israel forever?
What part in Romans eleven tells us about this? 

2.      The Biblical Nation of Israel is divided into two separate groups. 
What are they? What is the minority group? 

3.      Present-day Israel is cursed with THREE-FOLD blindness. 
What is this blindness in its three points? 

4.      Where do we find the teaching on the fullness of the Gentiles in Romans 11? Give verses. 

5.      What is the difference between the “Fullness of the Gentiles” and “The Times of the Gentiles”? 

6.      The very important verses on the FIGURE OF THE OLIVE TREE in Romans chapter eleven are found in 11:13-25. Who are the natural branches that have been cut off? And who is the Olive Tree itself? 

7.      Why is Israel unable to be called the “Good Olive Tree” in this present Church Age? 

8.      What is the “mystery” of Romans 11:25 all about? 

9.      Is the rejection of Israel permanent? Give the Bible verse reference for your answer. 

10.  How and when will the Jews be restored? Give the wonderful Bible verse in the Old Testament that predicts this.

 

 

QUESTIONS FOR romans CHAPTER TWELVE.

 

  1. What “building” is Romans chapter twelve in? 
    What does this “building” represent? 
  1. Paul does not order us to present our bodies as living sacrifices. 
    What does he do instead?
  1. Why are we believers asked to present our bodies as living sacrifices?
  2. The thrilling result when we present our bodies, wholly, to God is transformation!
    Explain this transformation in depth, using your own words.
  1. What are the three sections from Romans 12:4 to 12:21 all about? 
    List them with verses.
  1. Now explain these sections - as you see them, in view of the Bible teaching. 
    Personal Application thoughts on this important chapter.

a)      Romans 12:2 talks about an invitation to be an entire sacrifice. That is a kind of “death”! 
Is this sacrifice really death to us as people in our own right, with our own desires and plans? 

b)      In the list of service positions in the Church, are there any positions which are higher than others? Do you have to choose your position yourself, does anyone choose their own position? Is a teacher or preacher in a fellowship the ultimate authority? If not who/what is? What and Who is the absolute authority in the Church, the only one we have? 

c)      How can a super-spiritual invitation like Romans 12:1,2 lead into teaching about interacting with people in our everyday world? What doesn’t it end in deeper, more mystical relations with the Spirit of God and the Heavenly Father? Maybe with spiritual experiences happening, tinglings, having visions and miracles etc. Is there is a reason why we are left on this earth after we are saved, rather than being taken straight to Heaven in new immortal bodies?

QUESTIONS FOR romans CHAPTER THIRTEEN.

 1.      What section in the “buildings” is chapter thirteen a part of? 

2.      This section of “buildings” takes in what other chapters? 

3.      Chapter thirteen deals with important instructions to do with what secular matters in society? About our duties towards what institutions? 

4.      Explain Romans 13: 7. And then write down what “custom” means?

5.      What is a Christian’s Images “debt” to a secular society? 

6.      According to your study notes, what is the Images reason that we should pay our spiritual debts to society? Romans 13:11-14 will give you the answer here. 

7.      Looking at the Appendix, Extract from “Beauty for Ashes” Vol. 4:3.

FOURTEEN, FIFTEEN AND SIXTEEN.

  1. Are we Christians called by God to “judge” others in certain instances?

What is the “judge” discussion in your notes all about, and what does it mention under points 1) to 3) about hypocrites, people who fall into sin, and false teachers? 

  1. Read the sum-up on Romans 14:13, 16, 19 and do a personal sum-up on the findings.
  1. Who is the pattern for the believer? Give a few comments on this, in your own words.
  1. What were Paul’s miracles, in a nutshell?
  1. Under the Phebe heading, what was the “diakonos”?
  1. What did Paul call Phebe,  as a “prostatis” or “succourer” of the Church?

Write your comments on the LAW OF LOVE in doubtful things as found in Romans chapter fourteen. Perhaps you could write here about how you, yourself, have handled a situation that led you to act in the LAW OF LOVE when a matter of “doubtful things” occurred. If you have no experience, then express your own thoughts about how you might handle a situation later on, if one comes into your life.
