THE BOOK OF romans – INTRODUCTION.

(Thanks to Willmington’s Guide to the Bible for outline details).

 The book of Romans can be likened to FOUR BUILDINGS.

These symbols can aid the student’s memory when studying the book.

This plan divides the book of Romans neatly into compartments which help us to bring to mind the various instructions, revelations and exhortations which God imparts to us.

Here are the four buildings:

1. THE COURT HOUSE OF GOD …….Chapter 1through to chapter 5.
Here we see GOD’S WRATH, His condemnation and the miracle of Justification is explained.

2. THE POWER PLANT OF GRACE…. Chapter 6 through to chapter 8.
GOD’S WAY is revealed in depth. He will sanctify and preserve the repentant, those who will receive His reconciliation.

3. THE SYNAGOGUE OF ISRAEL. Chapter 9 through to 11.
GOD’S WISDOM. Explanation and Vindication.

4. THE TEMPLE OF GOD. Chapter 12 through to 16.
GOD’S WILLis transformation, and we are exhorted.

 Throughout these lessons we will keep to those FOUR BUILDINGS, bringing out the deeper teaching of the passages with that plan intact to keep us aware of where we are in the book. Remember however, this is a theological aid to study not a Biblical imperative.
