The New Age New World Order is almost in a total place of international might. (If you are in need of greater information on this Order, please write to the address in the booklet. Space does not permit a full evaluation of this phenomenon). All of society, in perhaps every area, has been influenced by the New Age. New Age doctrines, ecology issues, political aims, alternative medicines, self-help seminars, education in schools and colleges - and so much more are inundating Australia. Some of these infiltrations are hidden, covert; many are now quite open, overt, and are recognizable. This is a time of enormous global CHANGE. The New Age networks have multiplied across the earth in their tens of thousands. It is a global "paradigm" shift on an un- precedented level
The churches are not exempt from the efforts of the New Age New
World
Order's political, religious and economic CHANGE AGENTS. These agents
of
change seek to draw the world's inhabitants into UNITY, COLLABORATION
with
a Luciferian, Evil Order, and into complete agreement with the aims of
the New Age ecologists. THE ENVIRONMENT, with its scam crisis is the
adhesive
that the global elitists of the ORDER are using to join the entire
world
into ONE.
The BAPTIST UNION OF AUSTRALIA is sponsoring an international speaker - one TONY CAMPOLO, who will be arriving in Australia next January, 1994. A prestigious building costing approximately $3 million will be built in Brisbane, partly to provide a venue for Campolo's ministry.
We urge those who love the Lord to read carefully and prayerfully, the following material, and to seek to read the subversive book by Campolo - "How to Rescue the Earth Without Worshipping Nature, [Word Publishing].
Remember Christian, the wrapping on the package in which "NEW AGE CHANGE" is presented is often very beautiful. It is a wrapping that fills the eye with pictures of furry animals and the beauty of forests and flowers, that picture is only the outside covering of the real issues that face us all.
May the Lord help His people to look deep enough to see the REAL PACKAGE!
Tony Campolo, self-styled sociologist to the Christian churches, has written a book that is astonishingly anti-Biblical, deceptive and NEW AGE! The title really tells it all - "How to Rescue the Earth". As happens so often now, the New Age is openly attacked by Campolo yet, he speaks with a forked tongue.
On the back cover we read these words:
"Is ignoring the destruction of nature a sin? If the world is to `pass away' some day, should Christians care about the environment?"
"Is concern for the earth just a distraction from the issues in which the church should really be involved?"
"STRANGE QUESTIONS? Not for a Christian who believes that rescuing the earth is commanded by Scripture
These odd questions are NOT the questions Christians should be asking as they read Campolo's book! Could we suggest questions that SHOULD be asked?
Here Campolo seeks to cover himself in brilliantly devised anticipation. He uses "criticism", "label", "seduced", "condemn", "demonic influence" (all emotive words) to the fullest advantage. Already the reader is being drawn in to sympathize with the author, against those who would nit-pick and be"unloving" and "intolerant". These statements are designed to make the OBVIOUS CRY of Biblically based, obedient servants of God, "NEW AGE CHANGE-AGENT AT WORK", seem rather ridiculous. No we are not going to "label" Campolo as "someone seduced by the New Age movement", he, no doubt, is far more than that! Campolo is possibly a NEW AGE NEW WORLD ORDER MAN with a planned agenda, to draw the Christian church people into New World environmentalism
We are involved in a gigantic "cult of chicken little" A panic has been set up by the elitists of this world to make the masses cry "the sky is falling, the sky is falling....." We all know the story of Chicken Little, who was asleep under a tree, when a mere acorn fell, hitting him on the head. Chicken Little hysterically leaped to the wrong conclusion, before he examined the evidence, and set everyone else off with his cries about the sky falling. The cult of Chicken Little has convinced us that only disaster awaits those who will not join to "Rescue the Earth".["Green Hoax" by D. Thompson, if available can be obtained through "Despatch"]
Tony Campolo writes of rescuing the earth, without worshipping
nature.
Christian friend, one does not have to worship nature to collaborate
with
the New Age powers-that-be, one only has to accept the hoaxes, unite
with
One Worlders and urge others to "rescue the earth" to collaborate
actively
with the rebels against God -- the Luciferian World Order.
Tony Campolo is a sociologist, and a man of dubious doctrine, who has either been deluded by the real aims of the New Age and is unaware of the magnitude of the conquest of this world's system by the New World Order, or he is a deceiver himself. One or the other of these propositions is true - that, only God truly knows.
The "Rescue the Earth" business is all about POLITICS, and not just about WORSHIPPING NATURE. This is all about CHURCH CONTROL being in the hands of the World Council of Churches, the emerging ONE WORLD POLITICAL CHURCH, THE CLUB OF ROME, THE FABIAN PROGRAMME, THE INTERNATIONAL UNITED NATIONS GREEN REVOLUTION (with its ghastly Theosophical/Hindu New Age indoctrination), THE INTERNATIONAL BANKERS and THE "ONE WORLD OR NONE" campaign of the World Commission of the Environment and Development [Gaia, Earth Goddess people et al.]
The "Rescue the Earth" campaign is a monstrous WAR, which is all over bar the shouting. It is about your nation SURRENDERING to the ONE WORLD, NEW WORLD ORDER. It is about "debt-for-nature-swaps". These have already begun in some Third World countries - (Brazil, Costa Rica, Peru and Chile).
"It is proposed to set up a World Conservation Bank, which will be truly immense. It would have trillions of dollars in capitalization, will have the power to create money, create loans and engage in debt-for-nature-swaps. [Such a bank will be capitalised by a trust called "The Global Inventory of Wilderness Assets" comprising 30% of the earth's surface, evaluated at many trillions of dollars]". `The Green Hoax'
Yes, the "rescue the Earth" business is BIG BUSINESS indeed!
Now Tony Campolo just happened to have the same brilliantly original brain-wave of a pledge or covenant signed by the Christians! Astonishing co-incidence, one would think.
The American Christians warn that should one sign such a document, it will be legally binding under International Law - anyone breaking such a pledge could face imprisonment, or even death as a result -- in the near future.
Here is a copy of this Campolo Covenant, with relevant remarks:
WAKE UP, AUSTRALIAN CHURCH-GOER. Have you ever seen such "covenants"
like Campolo's pledge in church fellowships? Just reading the above
should
make alarm bells start ringing? If they aren't ringing by now, why
aren't
they.
What is the network called "The Greens"?
Why can't Christians who love the Lord join networks of "Greens" under a "christian" banner?
GREEN movements are not unconnected groups, nor are they only happy
little nature lovers, who innocently want to love animals, save baby
seals
and romp in the rainforests. The Green Movement is a vast network of
groups
who are joined through a common vision. That vision includes social,
political
and ecological "justice" for the earth. It is man's attempt to "do
something"
about the imperfect world of sin and suffering, waste and degradation
that
compose this world under the curse, the fall and under the world-system
rule of Satan. Rule of Satan and The Curse - John 14:30; IPet.5:8;
Matt.4:6;
Gen.3:17;] The Green Movement has many "parties", and the mainline
Christian
"Green Party" would be a decided feather in the cap for the whole Green
network! Spreading around the world, it includes antinuclear Greens,
radical
left Greens, holistic/visionary Greens, Social Greens, single issue
Greens,
native American Greens, red Greens and neo-Marxism militant Greens.
The Green groups that comprise the Green network generally agree that:
"As we evangelicals seek to develop a NEW CONSCIOUSNESS and a WORKABLE THEOLOGY to address the urgent needs of CREATION-CARE, we may have to pay attention to many who REGARD US AS THEIR ENEMIES. As we try to rethink our ATTITUDES TOWARD NATURE, we may have to learn some respect for THEOLOGIES and BELIEF SYSTEMS that we have hitherto dismissed with a wave of the hand. In our attempt to equip Christians to deal with contemporary issues in such a way that concerned secularists will turn to the church for hope and help, we may have to open our own ears to SOME NEW VOICES". [Emphasis mine].
The section just before this statement contains the names [and
ENDORSES
THEM ENTHUSIASTICALLY] of two religious leaders who are lauded and
adored
by the New Age - namely St. Francis and the notoriously New Age-style
teacher,
Teilhard de Chardin; the section straight after the above quotation,
leads
into rampant FEMINISM.
(Reference, page 140 of "How to Rescue the Earth")
"I was pleasantly surprised during a visit to New York City when I
happened
upon a special day of blessing for animals at the great Cathedral of
St.
John the Divine. Once a year, a Sunday afternoon is designed for people
to bring their animals to this EPISCOPAL church to receive blessings
and
prayers from the pastors. All kinds of people bring all kinds of
animals
so that the clergy might lay hands on these special creatures in the
name
of Christ. What made this service particularly amazing to me was that,
in addition to an array of the expected house pets, a variety of New
York
Zoo animals, ranging from a camel to sheep and goats, were on hand to
be
blessed. Some tourists visiting the church that afternoon were amused.
But others, perhaps for the first time in their lives, considered the
special
service was a brilliant educational tool ... other denominations should
pick up this idea and make it a regular part of church life". page 140]
The cathedral in New York City is called "Big John" by New Yorkers. The Dean of "Big John", the Very Reverend James Parks Morton, ! is certainly not "very reverent" in the eyes of the Lord God Almighty. A New Ager, Morton is pro-homosexual, he works in full co-operation with the top figures of the New Age movement. Such people as David Spangler, (Luciferian New Ager who has spoken from the pulpit at St. John the Divine), Al Gore (Vice-president of the U.S.A., Gaia Mother Earth worshipper), and William Irwin Thompson (the founder of the Lindisfarne Centre in Colorado - New Ager).
St. John the Divine is so well-known as a "crazy" New Age Centre, that one is surprised that Campolo spelt out his involvement so blatantly! The "special day of blessing for animals" which Campolo refers to is most likelya day similar to that which Per Ola and Emily d'Aulaire reported about in the ...(Smithsonian, December, 1992).
"The annual Blessing of Animals is one of those "of course" events. Begun in 1985 and held each October on the Feast of ST. Francis, the service is typical of the "crazy things" that go on that are perhaps not so crazy after all. Each year more than 6,000 people and their pets crowd into St. John's for the St. Francis Day Earth Mass. As the music of the Paul Winter Consort fills the place with the sounds of timber wolves and humpback whales, dogs strain at their leashes, eager for an ecumenical sniff at other hounds, rabbits peek from shoe boxes, and goldfish slosh in bowls..
Last year, a tatooed man roamed the aisles with two boa
constrictors,
one as thick as his calf, the other sporting a blue ribbon around its
neck.
After a sermon- always delivered by a prominent dignitary-by SENATOR
ALBERT
GORE, the great bronze doors were opened, and in came the official
entourage
of beasts that had been trucked in from far and wide. The church fell
silent
as the creatures made their way to the altar, among them an elephant, a
hedgehog, a pig, a particularly grumpy-looking camel, and a
3.5-billion-year-old
rock from Australia covered with bacteria and reverently borne on a
pillow.
They were followed by a man in a choir robe, pushing a wheelbarrow and
shouldering a shovel "in case one of the animals decides to make an
offering
to God." Bishop Grein blessed them one and all." [p.42]
"What drives us forward today" he said, "is our need to help people
understand that religion and ecology are two faces of the same coin
....
We're not just trashing the poor, we are trashing the Earth. This must
be a focus for our mission in the 21st century".
One future Gaia plan shows the cathedral as a SOLAR BIOSHELTER, with
mosses, ferns and flowers flourishing under a Gothic-style
glass-enclosed
transept!Yet Campolo claims in his book "How to Rescue the Earth", that
he is anti-Gaia, Mother Earth, Campolo makes a big show of this. We,
however,
are not about to receive such double-speak, Mr. Campolo.
Spangler writes:
"Christ is the same force as Lucifer ....Lucifer prepares man for the experience of Christhood .... Lucifer works within each of us to bring us to wholeness as we move into the New Age."
Spangler declares that a New Age Christ is coming who is another Christ - not JESUS CHRIST.
(Which Christ is Campolo serving, must be our question.)
David Spangler left Findhorn with his adherents, and founded a New Age group in the U.S.A. called the LORIAN FOUNDATION. He is associated with the CHINOOK CENTRE AND ST. JOHN THE DIVINE CATHEDRAL.
(These people have encountered a horned and hairy being, who calls
himself
PAN - it had cleft hoofs!).
"...it may now be necessary to foster a new "environmentalism of the spirit". page 242; What 'spirit' is Gore referring to? The GODDESS, nature spirit of the New Age (page 260).
"The spiritual sense of OUR place in nature predates Native American cultures ... a growing number of anthropologists and archaeo-mythologists, such as Marija Gimbutas and Rian Eisler, argue that the prevailing ideology of belief in prehistoric Europe and much of the world was based on the worship of a SINGLE EARTH GODDESS, who was assumed to be the fount of all life and who radiated harmony among all living things....".
Both Clinton and Gore champion the killing of the unborn, unnatural homosexual lifestyles, and a host of values that are New Age - including New Age feminism as written in Campolo's seductive, deluding book "How to Rescue the Earth".
AL GORE, Southern "Baptist", has praise for all neo-pagan religions, but only disdain for "his own". Compare his statement with the statement by Tony Campolo below [on page 263]:
"For some Christians, (Bible believers) the prophetic vision of the apocalypse is used - IN MY VIEW, UNFORGIVABLY".
On pages 88-89 (also 6, 83-86 and 100) a man named Pierre Teilhard de Chardin is not only mentioned, but lauded and applauded. Who is he? A New Age Patron "Saint"!
Teilhard was a Jesuit priest, five times censored by his order for apostasy. This priest has been responsible for most of the philosophical foundations of the New Age Movement. The pantheistic (God is an impersonal FORCE in nature - nature IS God) works of Teilhard are officially still condemned by the Vatican. Teilhard's work extends to secularists, mainline protestant apostates and now, even to professed evangelicals.
The author of the World Core Curriculum, former assistant Secretary General of the United Nations, New Age Luciferian/occultist, Dr. Robert Muller, speaks proudly of something he calls his "five Teilhardian enlightenments". The New Age "goddess emerging" educator, Jean Houston, evil facilitator of many New Age techniques and worshipper of the "dark god" of the underworld, tells often of her childhood association with Teilhard and her Central Park walks with the man. Even the author of the New Age New World Order handbook (almost the New Age Movement "bible") "The Aquarian Conspiracy", Marilyn Ferguson, uses the works and philosophies of Teilhard MORE THAN ANY OTHER SOURCE in her book.
In the book "A Planned Deception, The Staging Of A New Age Messiah",Constance Cumbey writes of Teilhard:
"He was discredited in the eyes of many for his role in the Piltdown
scandal. Chardin is a known source of controversy between conservative
and liberal Roman Catholics. Lately, he has become one between
evangelical
and neo-evangelical protestants as well". His ecological
"creation-centered
spirituality", his brand of pantheism is extremely attractive, heavily
used by a new band of "evangelicals" throughout the world. This can do
no other than join the New Age to the neo-evangelical organizations.
"With some help from St. Francis and Teilhard de Chardin, we might just make it." [ Page 89 ]
"This journey will take us back in time to the thinking of St. Francis and St. Benedict. We will explore the contributions to the theology of creation made by some of the historic founders of Protestanism, such as John Calvin and John Wesley. We will also give attention to C.S. Lewis and Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, who represent more modern Christian thinking." [Page 6 ]
The most blatant PANTHEISTIC, NEW AGE FORCE statement that any writer could make appears on page 83. NOTE the acceptance of the horrendous teachings of Teilhard, and the mention of a counterfeit "Kingdom of God". Christian, this is a counterfeit Christian book which Campolo has written, cleverly concealing its true purpose with pockets of legitimate-sounding evangelical doctrines and phrases.
I quote from page 83: "What most of us find intriguing is that Teilhard found a basis for claiming that spiritual forces are at work in the most basic elements of the physical universe.
Teilhard's writings, censored by church officials, were published
under
the auspices of atheistic friend, Aldous Huxley. In his books Teilhard
brought together in a unified world view the findings of the laws of
physical
sciences, discoveries of anthropology, theories about the history and
destiny
of the cosmos and biblical teaching. The vision he gave us of the
nature
and destiny of the universe and the insights into the history and
destiny
of the cosmos are BRILLIANT. Even those who have sought to refute his
theories
could not HELP BUT ADMIRE HIS GENIUS. According to Teilhard, love
formed
the universe and love is even now working through all of nature to
CREATE
THE KINGDOM OF GOD." (end of quotation).
From Teilhard's "Human Energy ", "The Future of Man" and "Letters to Two Friends" (as recorded by Dr. Dennis L. Cuddy, Phd)
"..."that the proposed organization must be international and in the
end totalitarian... The modern totalitarian regimes, whatever their
initial
defects, are neither heresies nor biological regressions: They are in
line
with the essential trend of `cosmic' movement... The world of tomorrow
will be born out of the `elected' group of those who will decide that
there
is something big waiting for us ahead, and give their life to reach
it...
The earth is a closed and limited surface. To what extent should it
tolerate,
racially or nationally, areas of lesser activity? More generally still,
how should we judge the efforts we lavish on all kinds of rejects ?...
We have only to believe, then little by little, we shall see the
universal
horror unbend, and then smile upon us, and then take us in its more
than
human arms" [p.137]
"Suspicions to the contrary, I believe in the premillennial return of Christ. On the other hand, I certainly do not work on the details of predicting just how and when the Second Coming will occur. Whenever the discussion focuses on such things, I like to say, "I'm on the welcoming committee, not the program committee...
The church is to play a key role as God carries out His redemptive plan for His cosmos. The Scriptures tell us that God has "put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church" [Eph.1:22]
The church is His instrument for rescuing His polluted world, and He will make it new again [Rev.21:5]. the people who make up Christ's body are the primary agents for His commitment to fulfill His plans for the future of our planet. We know that the God who even now is working through His people to make all things good [Romans 8:28] will not leave us hanging. He will reenter history in power and glory. And he will complete the work which He initiated through His church. The church will accomplish something of His saving work. But it is only when He returns and joins our feeble efforts, that we can expect the defeat of the ecological evils of our time by the goodness of God. Between now and then, the church must be about the business he will complete.
Stirring Our Emotions
Seldom, if ever, do we hear sermons on the environment. Those who do
deliver messages on this subject may well be held suspect of being
theologically
offbeat. Most commonly they are accused of being part of the New Age
movement...."
(p.96 to p.97
Now Campolo has gone to a lot of trouble in his book to discredit Biblical-style premillennialism. He has attacked Hal Lindsay (premillennialist) and (intentionally?) misinterpreted his message. Campolo has made a shocking misinterpretation of premillennial belief in many areas of the book, and has applauded "Eastern Orthodoxy" because they believe in "deliverance for the rest of creation from what Satan had done to it" - as though Biblically based Christians who teach premillennialism do not believe this! Of course they do, but, the Bible teaches a period of great tribulation on the earth before Christ can restore the Creation. Biblically based premillennialists teach the promise of God "making all things new" (Rev.21:5), but only after the anti-christ, the rebels against God, and Satan have been defeated in a time of enormous upheaval and judgement on the earth.
Notice on pages 38 and 39 (for those who have a book) that the outline of belief that Campolo sets out under the heading "Salvation is Bigger than We Imagined", contains post millennial belief (12 and 13) because these points make out that the Kingdom of God (and creation) can simply be claimed and renewed NOW, because of the cross. The Rapture is left out. Also left out is A THE COMING WAR WAGED BY THE LORD JESUS AGAINST SATAN'S AND THE ANTI-CHRIST'S FORCES in the great tribulation. (Rev.19:11-21). What is left out is the WRATH OF GOD IN JUDGEMENT YET TO HAPPEN ON THIS EARTH (Rev. 6 to 20).
NO, "All of humanity will be giving God glory and worshipping Him throughout all eternity" is not true as page 39 states - ! Multitudes (those who reject Jesus Christ as Saviour) will be suffering in the Lake of Fire! (Rev.20:11-15.
That is why we who have the glorious Gospel of Christ must not be
turned
away from the Great Commission to win souls, by joining with the ONE
WORLD
CHURCH in their politically-motivated hoaxes about "rescuing" the earth
Mr. Campolo might call himself "premillennial", but to what millennium is he referring?
Do these statements of page 97 make good, Biblical sense?"
"God has already taken on the task of planetary salvation and environmental renewal through us, and He is doing it here and now."
"The church is His instrument for rescuing His polluted world --"
The Bible does not teach these things. CHRIST died for the
redemption
of the creation. Christ will renew creation and repeal the curse -
after
the earth has had all rebellion put down, not now! CHRIST needs no ONE
WORLD CHURCH to aid Him in "rescuing" His polluted world. He created
the
world in the first place (John 1:1-4). The ANTI-CHRIST system seeks to
set up a counterfeit MILLENNIAL REIGN before judgement and the
authentic
second coming and glorious MILLENNIAL REIGN OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST.
Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, Jews, Hindus, Zorastrians, African Animists (including snake worshippers), Sikhs, Shinto Priests from Japan, Jains and American Tribal Indian Shamans, Dr. Emilio Castro of the World Council of Churches (New World Order), the Archbishop of Canterbury, Robert Runcie patriarchs of the Greek Orthodox of Constantinople and the Dalai Lama "God-King" were also among the leaders present.
The Pope, John Paul II convened that Assisi meeting in October 1986. It was an inter-religious gathering indeed! The very next day after Assisi, the Vatican held a conference in Rome with the world's major syncretist organizations including the United Nations WORLD CONFERENCE ON RELIGION AND PEACE, THE TEMPLE OF UNDERSTANDING (United Nations, New Age) and the BRITISH WORLD CONGRESS OF FAITHS (ONE WORLD CHURCH).
The chief organiser was Roger Cardinal Etchegatay, the President of
the far-left Justice and Peace Commission. ST. FRANCIS IS BIG IN THE
NEW
AGE CIRCLES.
In these quotations Campolo has denied certain philosophies, then proceeds to spell out these same philosophies. He says only human beings have souls. He says he is avoiding any suggestion of pantheism, THEN, he writes in almost a classic New Age style of the "Living Entity" of nature (Gaiaism, pantheistic).
In "A Reasonable Faith", Campolo makes his mystical, New Age beliefs very clear. He teaches that in believers and unbelievers alike, Jesus is "waiting to be discovered in every person you and I encounter". NOT human creation in the image of God. NOT divine omnipresence. The same mystical incarnation of "Christ" in every human being (MAN IS GOD OR "CHRIST"), that the New Age teachers peddle.
What is a "Christosphere"? The "higher stage" of all nature. (page 85). A coming of `the christ', a pantheistic impersonal source or force in nature evolving into the New Earth - the Goddess arising.
As David Spangler wrote in "Reimagination of the World":
"For me, another definition of the New Age is that it is a spiritual
phenomenon. As such, it has three aspects: it represents a fundamental
formative force, an essential component of life; it represents an inner
condition or state of mind; and it represents a particular spiritual
and
initiatic impulse inherent in the incarnational processes of Earth".
(page
27).
Leaders, ministers and `superstars' come and go in denominations, but the ONE SHEPHERD, ONE CHIEF BISHOP alone admits the members into the TRUE CHURCH. He opens the door. No man can shut it or open it, not sociologists, archbishops, elders or priests.
Fellow Believer, stand by THE FAITH ONCE DELIVERED TO THE TRUE
CHURCH.
(II Peter 1:16-21;. Galatians 1:6-10).
God bless and strengthen our fellow-soldiers in THE FAITH delivered to the SAINTS. MARANATHA "Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the Great God and our Saviour, Jesus Christ".[I Jn.3:1-3; Phil.3:20-21]
Hal Lindsay's, "The Road to Holocaust", Quo Vadis, Church?
"...The last days of the Church on earth may be largely wasted seeking to accomplish a task that only the LORD Himself can and will do directly. On a question as important as the church's purpose and mission, it is especially important not to be deceived by the theoretical, subjective reasoning of men. This issue must be decided on the basis of an objective exegesis of the Bible text." (page 269)
EVANGELICAL LEADERS JUDGE TONY CAMPOLO'S THEOLOGY.
Extract..."Christianity Today" - 8/9/1989 - by Randy Frame.
A Panel says the sociologist's controversial book is flawed, but not HERETICAL - (HERESY).
A panel of evangelical leaders has determined that Tony Campolo cannot rightly be called a heretic. However, the panel urged the Eastern College sociology professor to clarify in writing certain statements made in his book, `A Reasonable Faith' (Word). The panel said the book is "methodoligically naive and verbally incautious."
Campolo, one of the most traveled speakers on the evangelical circuit, became the center of a controversy earlier this year when he was canceled on theological grounds from speaking at Youth Congress `85 (CT, Sept.20, 1985, p.30). The decision was made by Bill Bright, president of Campus Crusade for Christ, one of the sponsoring organizations of the youth conference.
Recently in Chicago, Campolo and Bright appeared before a four-member panel consisting of theologian J.I. Packer, who served as chairman; Gordon MacDonald, president of Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship; Earl Radmacher, president of Western Conservative Baptist Seminary; and James Boice, pastor of Tenth Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia.
Packer said the panel`s purpose was limited, explaining that it had been summoned as part of a process to reconcile Campolo with his critics. The Christian Legal Society (CLS) is coordinating this process. Said Packer, "Our goal was to produce a resource document to help the parties in this case to achieve reconciliation."
At the one-day meeting in Chicago, the panel questioned Campolo for a total of six hours, calling on him to explain parts of "A Reasonable Faith", which Bright had cited as the basis for his cancellation of Campolo. CSL Executive director Sam Ericsson said the meeting "was one of the most intense sessions I've ever witnessed....It was a powerful illustration of the Holy Spirit being very active because Christians decided to do it biblically."
At issue were portions of the book in which Campolo indicated that Jesus lives in all people, whether or not they are Christians. At one point in the book Campolo stated that human-ness and God-ness are one and the same..... (Gen.3:5).
