Getting to know
God together.

The twins, Zachary and Nardia, were looking forward to going camping.
They kept on walking out to the shed and looking at the tent, and the camp stove, chairs and tables. “I can hardly wait,” said Zach. “It will be hard to stay home here until we go.”  Home can seem pretty boring when you are waiting for a holiday. “I can’t sleep in my bed, “ said Nardia one night. “I want to be in the tent on my camp mattress, in my sleeping bag. I wish we were on holiday. “ They talked often about the place they were going to, the lake and the bush animals that were there. At last it was the day to go and they helped  Dad pack all the camping stuff in the trailer - and they were off at last! Everyone sang as they went down the highway towards the lake district.

The first few days the camp was lovely. The twins had a go at fishing, and Nardia caught a big fish! The sky started to cloud over one evening, and by the next morning it was raining. Well, the camp site was completely different in rain. The ground became muddy and it was miserable. That night, though, the tent seemed dry and cosy. The family went to sleep happy enough that they were nice and warm in their sleeping bags. But it didn’t last long. A nasty clap of thunder woke them up in the early hours of the morning - and down came a torrent of rain! Before long the water was running  like a creek through the camp site, and even came in the front of the tent! “No good at all, “ groaned Dad, “the rain has set in! We will pack up tomorrow and go home.”

When they got back the twins could hardly believe how good home was! It was so solid there, no rain could come near those walls and doors. No cold in their lovely living room. No need to try to find dry wood, Mum just turned on the stove and cooked cakes and biscuits - just like that! “I will never find home boring again!” said Nardia. “There sure is no place like home. Thank you God for my home - oh, and my family too of course!”

Heaven is like going home!
Christians should never fear dying, for going to Heaven will be just like going to a place which is so familiar that it is our own heart’s home!
Heaven will not be strange to us, for our own blessed Lord Jesus has gone before us to “prepare a place” for us. It will be just right for you and me. This life on earth is like climbing a very high mountain. It is the hardest, the most amazing, exciting, sad, sometimes terrible, sometimes great, adventure that anyone could ever have! Just living in this world! No believer in Christ would ever want to miss a moment of it. But, when believers are called home at last to Heaven - what a thrill and a delight it will be just to be there at last! There surely is “no place like home” - our Heavenly home with the Lord.

Here is what Jesus tells us:
“Let not your heart be troubled [ don’t be upset and afraid ]:
ye believe in God, believe also in me.
In my Father's house are many mansions [ beautiful homes ]:
if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
[ Jesus has got homes ready for us ].
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
And whither I go [ where I go ] ye know, and the way ye know.
Thomas saith [ said ] unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest
[ where you are going ]; and how can we know the way?
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”  [ Put your whole trust in Jesus, He will take you home!]
(John 14:1-6).

Tomorrow let’s think about how to make our earthly homes super special!!!
See you then, lambs of God.
