WITH THE HEAVENLY FATHER -
......DEVOTIONS FOR LAMBS. No. 209
Do you remember that the Old Testament
part of the Bible has lots and lots of promises about Jesus coming? We
have seen a few. Lots of the “prophecies” in the Old Testament
are about Jesus coming the first time. He came the first time nearly two
thousand years ago. Lots are about Him coming back a second time! The first
time He came, Jesus came as tiny baby. The second time He comes He will
come as a mighty King Who takes away all evil from the earth! Hundreds
and thousands of years before Jesus was born God the Father said He would
send the Saviour. Our Precious Lord Jesus Christ. Would you like to see
one more of God’s promises about Jesus in the Old Testament? It is really
awe-some! It was a given a long, long time before Mary was even alive.
“Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin [ a vir-tuous unmarried lady ] shall conceive [ get pregnant ], and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel [ this means God with us ].”
Because Jesus came every thing
has changed on our earth! We can come back to God because Jesus grew up
to be the Saviour Who died on the Cross.
It is the most important thing of all in anyone’s life when they decide to serve and worship Jesus. You might like to have a special prayer when you remember Jesus’ birth this year, to tell Him that you are glad He came to our earth. You too can “praise” Jesus. Once when Christ Jesus had grown to be a man, and He was in the Jewish Temple, children began to praise Him. The rulers of the Temple were quite cross about this and other things! But Jesus was very pleased with their praise. Have a look:
“ And when the chief priests and scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children crying in the temple, and saying, Hosanna [ praise Him ] to the Son of David; they were sore displeased [ not at all happy, very cross ], And said unto him, Hearest thou what these say? And Jesus saith [ said ] unto them, Yea; have ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings [ the young children ] thou hast perfected praise? [ God has made the very best of praise? ] “ (Matthew 21:15,16).
Our Lord Jesus was talking about this
verse in the Old Testament:
“Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings [ the young children ] hast thou ordained strength [ made sure before hand their praise was strong ] because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger [ stop the mouth of the devil and God’s enemies ].”
Children’s praise and worship are very
precious to God!
