WITH THE HEAVENLY FATHER -
......DEVOTIONS FOR LAMBS. No. 213
Jesus Christ came
to our earth because God loves us. He came because God does not want any
person, boy, girl, man or woman, to be lost and away from Him. God loved
YOU so much that He sent His Son so that YOU could be saved. That is what
the baby being born at Bethlehem is all about. It is about God’s great
love for us all.
The baby being born at Bethlehem is about God coming to us when the whole world was lost in sin. This is the most thrilling thing that ever happened on this poor old world! We talked about giving gifts yesterday, well Jesus Christ was and is the best gift that there ever was! Ever!
He is God’s wonderful gift to you and me.
Let’s have a look
at some Scrip-tures about the great gift of love.
God’s Word tells us all about this tremendous gift of God. I want you to understand some pretty adult stuff, so that you can be very clear about what God gave us. Here are some verses from Romans 5:
“For if through
the offence of one ( the sin of Adam ) many be dead ( in their spirits
), much more the grace of God, and the GIFT by grace, which is by one man,
Jesus Christ, hath abound-ed unto many.”
Adam brought sin into the world, and death. But God gave us something much more, He gave His Son. He was the gift that none of us deserved.
“For if by
one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abun-dance
of grace and of the GIFT of righteous-ness shall reign in life by one,
Jesus Christ.” Verse 17.
When Adam turned against God in the Garden of Eden sin entered the world, and every-one that was ever born after that was lost and away from God. But the wonderful gift of God’s Son, Who came as a tiny baby in the manger, made every-thing different. Jesus makes us like kings who rule over death and sin. We can have God’s goodness again.
as by the offence of one judge-ment came upon all men to condem-nation;
even so by the righteousness of one the free GIFT came upon all men unto
just-if-i-cation of life.” Verse
When Adam sinned he brought God’s judge-ment on everyone after that! We all joined Adam in his wrong-doing against God. Jesus gave us His own goodness, His own holiness. It was His free gift. God says if we trust in Jesus Christ we can share in His holiness. God says He will “just-i-fy” us. That means a lot of things, but we can see it by saying this - it means “just as if I never sinned” at all.
“For as by
one man's dis-obedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of
one shall many be made righteous.” Verse
Adam brought dis-obedience to God into all the earth. But Jesus came and obeyed God for us all. He can make you and I good and holy again for God. He can do that for any person who is sorry that they do wrong - and who trust Jesus to make them brand new.
God’s gift goes
on and on forever. God gives us heaven and home forever. He gives us the
Life of Jesus for our own. God gives happiness and peace in our hearts.
And do you know, everything we need and want comes in the best gift of
all - Jesus Christ, the gift of God. So when you open presents this Christmas,
remember that Jesus Christ was the Heavenly Fathers’s gift of love to the
whole world. He is God’s gift TO YOU!
“...but the GIFT of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
