Getting to know God together.

Giddaye, lambs of God!
Every morning ( just about ), when we are having our own devotions on the front verandah, we can hear a lovely noise. It is the sound of our hens laying eggs! We have three of them, one cream, one tan and one black. Their names are Henny, Penny and Jenny. They get very excited when they lay eggs, and make such a delight-ful fussing and clucking. It makes us happy just to hear them so pleased with themselves. Their eggs are all nice and big - they can weigh as much as ninety grams. One chook lays speckled eggs, but I don’t who does it, because they all lay their eggs in the same chook house. The eggs are delicious to eat, much better than shop bought ones. We have them scrambled or boiled. They are nice with hot buttered toast.

Have you ever thought how marvel-ous-ly God planned food?
Especially human food. Animals get looked after too, but humans have such a variety of stuff to eat. ALL of it comes from the earth God made, by the way. You might say that chips, chocolate, ice cream and things like that don’t come from our earth. And you might say God didn’t make them. But you would be quite wrong.

Animals live off grass and hay, which comes from the earth.
God has provided all our food from His wonderful creation.
He has made food nice to eat, not just boring with tastes all the same.
Even if we didn’t do a thing to our foods, like cooking it and whipping it and making it into pies, it would still taste nice. God is so good to give us lovely food to eat.
We live in a place where luscious pine-apples grow!
We can pick them and eat them - just like that. Yum!

We have many blessings from God that we often don’t think about.
Those blessings are for all people.

But sadly some kids are not nearly as blessed as you are.
Those who live in poor countries.
Do you thank the Lord for His lovely things in your life?
It is always good to stop and thank Him for His goodness.

Here is a Psalm that thanks the Lord:

“Sing unto the LORD with thanks-giving;
sing praise upon the harp unto our God:
Who cover-eth the heaven with clouds, who prepar-eth rain for the earth, who mak-eth grass to grow upon the mountains.  He giv-eth to the beast his food, and to the young ravens [ big black birds ] which cry....
He giv-eth snow like wool: he scatter-eth the hoar-frost like ashes.
He cast-eth forth his ice like morsels: who can stand before his cold? He send-eth out his word, and melt-eth them: he caus-eth his wind to blow, and the waters flow.”
( Psalm 147: 7 -17).

Do you know the song, “All things bright and beautiful”?

It goes like this:

“All things bright and beautiful,
  All creatures great and small,
All things wise and wonderful,
  The Lord God made them.”

I am going to make my lunch now ( I’m a bit late writing the lambs’ devotion today!)
I will have some

We always say thanks to the Lord for our food, and ask Him to bless it to our bodies. Do you say “grace” before meals?
Some people have a special grace for children to say.

Nardia and Zachary say this one:

“Dear Lord,
thank You for the food that You have provided.
Bless it to our bodies.
In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
