Getting to know God together.

Tahnee and Nardia went to the library often. They loved to read books. They liked books with pictures in them the best.
“Mum’s books hardly ever have pictures in them, “ Nardia said one day,
“ the only ones with pictures she’s got are cook books and sewing books!”
But the girls had to admit that books without pictures made them use their imaginations a bit more.
“It is fun to think up the scenes and people without pictures too.
To sort of get a picture of them just out of words.”
There were so many books to look at in the library. And their town had lots of bookshops as well. Tahnee comment-ed,
“It would be impossible to read all the books of the world!
Or even just in our town!
How many books must have been written since they were first invented!
Billions and billions I reckon!“

The Bible is a book, of course.
Its name means “book.”
There are several books mentioned in the Bible.
These are very interesting books indeed.
They are God’s books too.

Let’s have a look:

(a) The Book of Life;
(b) The Lamb’s Book of Life;
(c) The Books of Works.

This book has in it the names of all people who get born phys-i-cally.
People can have their names “blotted out” of this book.
The Lord says:
“He that over-cometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment [ clothes ]; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.”  (Revelation 3:5).

This book is the special record of God. The names in it can never be blotted out. All names written in it have eternal life because of Jesus.  He is the Lamb of God. Only those who have their names written in the Lamb’s book of Life can enter Heaven:
“And there shall in no wise enter into it [ Heaven ] any thing that de-fil-eth [ makes dirty by sinning ], .....but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life.”
( Revelation 21:27).

These are the books which have all the deeds of unsaved people written in them.
They have not trusted in Jesus as Saviour, so they are not in the Lamb’s Book of Life. They will be judged by God out of those books of works. All unsaved people will be seen to be wrong doers, sinners! Even the good deeds they have done will be seen to be pretty poor stuff when they look at how Holy God is:

“And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.”
( Revelation 20:12).

When we trust in Jesus as Saviour, and believe He died to save us, our names are written in God’s wonderful Book, the Lamb’s Book of Life. No one and nothing can ever blot out our names in that Book, ever! We will never be judged from the Book of Works either! I am sure glad of that. So if you have trusted in Jesus as your Saviour and Lord - you are safe forever more. Praise the Lord Jesus Christ - He is a wonderful Friend. He is our Re-deem -er.
That word means He paid the price to make us free from sin and death.

“Who gave himself for us, that he might REDEEM us from all iniquity [ sin ], and purify [ make clean ] unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works [ keen to do good things ].” ( Titus 2:14).
