Getting to know God together.
JESUS TELLS US WHO HE IS.
I missed a devotion this week, lambs of God. We had to take a lady in a
wheel-chair home to her house. She had been staying with us. In the rush
and fuss I forgot the devotion until we were going down the high-way in
Too late by then! ]
The Bible shows us such wonderful
things. You would think everyone would want to know about what the Bible
teaches us. But, many people just couldn’t care less!
This is mostly because people want to walk in the dark. When we want to walk in the light, then we are very pleased to know God’s Word.
Jesus speaks to us in God’s Word and He makes this promise:
“Then spake [ spoke ] Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that follow-eth me shall not walk in dark-ness, but shall have the light of life.”
( John 8:12).
In the Bible Jesus tells us Who He is! He is not just some man who once lived. He has revealed some pretty marvellous things about Who He is. Let’s look at some:
“Jesus said un-to her, I am the re-surr-ec-tion, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.”
That is amazing! Jesus tells us that He is the “re-surr-ec-tion!” He is the One Who makes people come to LIFE again after they have died! He says if we believe in Him, even though we die, we will be made alive again! Even our bodies will! Wow! Some Saviour!
Jesus said: “Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am.”
No one can be called “Master and Lord” in the way Jesus meant, unless He is GOD!
Jesus is telling us here that He is truly GOD!
“And He [ Jesus ] said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world.”
Here the Lord Jesus tells us that He did not have His origin in this world, not like all other people do. He came down from Heaven above.
“Jesus said unto them, Verily, Verily [ truly, truly] I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.”
Here Jesus says some-thing as strongly as He can. He did not begin when he came as a tiny baby at Beth-le-hem! Abraham was a man who lived long before, his story is found in the Old Testament. Before he ever lived Jesus was there - He is eternal, the I AM. The One Who exists by Himself - God.
“And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh [ comes ] to me shall never hunger; and he that believ-eth on me shall never thirst.”
What is this all about?
Does it mean we will never be hungry for sandwiches and stuff like that, and we will never be thirsty for water and fruit juice?
No, I guess you know that alright.
It means that those who trust in Jesus and have Him for their Friend have special “spirit” promises. We will never “thirst” and be “hungry” for God’s peace and happiness. We will never be “thirsty” and “hungry” to find out what life is all about.
We will know God and be sat-is-fied forever. Pretty marvellous alright!
Jesus said in John 10:7:
“...Verily, Verily [truly, truly], I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep...”
Here Jesus tells us He is the “door.” We who trust in Him are His sheep. He is the “door” that opens the way to the Heavenly Father. We can be truly safe when we go through that door! Jesus opens the way to Heaven and home!
“I am so
glad that the Father in Heaven,
Tells of His love in the book He has written.
Wonderful things in the Bible I see,
This is dearest that Jesus love me! - Jesus loves even me!”
