Getting to know God together.

PEOPLE AND ANIMALS.

Nardia and Zachary had been watching a television series about animals. It was one of those New Age “greenie” shows. It said that animals were just the same as humans. And it showed charts of humans coming from apes, called “evolution”!  On the show the twins were told that animals were really tame inside, and that we humans had made them fierce because we hunted them. They said we shouldn't eat meat!
“All of us live on Mother Earth together, animals and humans “
said the famous film-star on the show.
“We are all animals, and we must treat our fellow animals with respect. Those beautiful creatures of the jungles and forests. Do not fear them, they are more honourable than humans. We have much to learn from them. Love them and they will grow tame.”

The  twins didn’t quite know what they thought about that. So they went to their parents and asked them. Mum and Dad read to them from the Bible, and showed them that humans had been creat-ed like God, and the animals had not. They showed them in Genesis chapters 1 & 2 that animals had been made by God quite sep-ar-ate-ly from humans. They showed “ev-o-lu-tion” is just rot! You can read it for your-self. The twins knew most of what they said - up to a point.
“But Mum and Dad, why are animals fierce?
Have we made them like that?
And why do we eat meat?
And why do the animals kill each other?
And why....”
Dad inter-rup-ted Zac,
“Hey! just a minute! One question at a time. I know what we will do, we will look into all these things. GOD has shown all the answers about these questions, and we can find out from His Word.”
So that started a long and exciting search in the Bible for answers.
What a thrilling time that family had, and they sure found out everything they wanted to know. How about we do the same for a few days, lambs of God?

Question One:
“Why are animals afraid of humans?”
Once when the world was new and there was no SIN in it,
animals and humans lived together in har-mony.
What a para-dise it was.
Then sin entered the world, and everything changed.
After the Great Flood, Noah and his family landed on the mountains of Ar-a-rat,
and set up their lives again.
It was a new world ready to be lived in.
Then the Lord God gave special instructions for animals and humans.
These commands were different from the ones He had given way back in the time of Adam and Eve about animals - look at Genesis 1:26-28.
This was going to be a much tougher world to live in.
There were harsh conditions now.
God gave these orders to Noah and the animals after the Great Flood:
“And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said to them,
Be fruit-ful, and mul-ti-ply [ have lots of children ], and re-plen-ish [ re-fill ] the earth.
And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth,
and upon every fowl of the air, upon all that moveth upon the earth, and upon all the fished of the sea; into your hand are they delivered.”

WHY? Why did God command that animals would be terrified of humans?
Well, this was now a world that was filled with sin, and so death and pain and all that stuff was here now. The animals were going to mul-ti-ply much quicker than humans. So God gave those animals a “fear” and a “dread” of people. Otherwise they would have eaten humans all up pretty quick! There were far more animals and birds than there were people. There would have been no humans left in any time at all! Only a few animals were not afraid of humans. Animals who were to be our special friends and helpers. Like cattle, sheep, dogs and cats - they do not fear us. We can tame wild animals too. But they often remain wild in their hearts, and dangerous.  Animals are “delivered” into our hands by God. But we must be responsible and look after them properly. So the “greenies” are right there in some ways.

I am glad God gave that command to animals to fear us. Can you imagine what it would be like if they weren’t afraid of us? But I am also glad God gave us special friends in the animal kingdom.
We should love and care for animals, wild or do-mes-tic [ animals who live in our homes or fields ]. God made them, and He is love.

Tomorrow, more about animals and us. See you then.
