Getting to know God together.

Godís rainbow in the clouds is sure a lovely sight!
We were having our breakfast on the front verandah this morning -
and a lovely rainbow was over our house.
It was so nice eating our chook eggs from our own Henny, Penny and Jenny and seeing that lovely sight. We had hot toast as well, and  frothy coffee with grated chocolate on top. Yum! My dog, Dolly, was trying to get me to play with her smelly old plastic bone. But I had to wait until I had finished eating food before I could touch her toy - or her for that matter! She is sometimes a smelly beast herself.

Back to the rainbow.
I reckon that the rainbow is one of the most beautiful of all things that God has created. Donít you? Not only is it beautiful but it has such very special meaning. The first time it appeared ( you might remember I told you about this before ) was when the Lord God put it in the sky to show His MERCY.
After the Great Flood God put the rainbow in the sky to say
ďI will never again destroy the world by a Great Flood.Ē
You can read that in Genesis 9:11,12. God tells us more about the rainbow in three other places in His Word.

They are pretty exciting! Letís have a look:

There is a rainbow around the Throne of God in Heaven.
It was there when God was going to bring judge-ment on Israel.
It shows Godís mercy even when He has to judge nations.

1. Ezekiel 1:28:
ďAs the appear-ance of the bow [ rainbow ] that is in the cloud in the day of rain, so was the appear-ance of the bright-ness round about [ Godís Throne ]. This was the appear-ance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. And when I saw it,
I fell upon my face, and I heard a voice of one that spake.Ē

2. There is a rainbow around Godís Throne just before BIG trouble on the earth.
God is going to judge the whole world this time - in the period called the ďTribulation.Ē God might send judge-ment, but He is always full of grace and mercy!

This is what the rainbow says!
ďAs the appearance of the bow [ rainbow ] that is in the cloud in the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness round about. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. And when I saw it, I fell upon my face, and I heard a voice of one that spake.Ē ( Revelation 4:3).

3. ďAnd I saw another mighty angel come down from heaven, clothed with a cloud: and a rainbow was upon his head, and his face was as it were the sun, and his feet as pillars of fire: ď ( Revelation 10:1).

When Jesus Christ comes to be King and have all power over the earth, He must first bring judge-ment on the wicked of the earth. This mighty angel is the Lord Jesus Christ Himself.
He does not have on His head a crown of thorns this time,
like He did when he died on the Cross.
He has a rainbowcrown.
He comes now as Judge, but Godís wonderful promise of not ever destroying the world in judge-ment is still there. God will always bring mercy even when He sends His judge-ment.
That is what the wonderful rainbow says to us all.
WOW! Rainbows are a lovely sign alright.
Jesus Christ is crowned in ďglory and honourĒ because
He was the One Who showed Godís love and mercy best of all.

Here is what the Bible tells us:

ď...crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man [ every person ]. ď (Hebrews 2:9).

Remember, donít make an idol of the rainbow, or think of it as being a magical thing.
That is what New Age people do. God is not pleased with that.
