BIBLE SYM-BOLS.

Giddaye, lambs of God.
How are you today?
“Dear Heavenly Father, I ask that You give light and understanding, hope, joy and growth to all the lambs as they read the Word of God. Keep them from the evil one, fill them with Your Spirit – and make them into right-e-ous men and women of the Lord. Amen.”

Do you know what a “symbol” is?
It is a sort of picture, a des-crip-tion of something.
We saw yesterday symbols for the Bible –
they were Mirror, Seed, Water, Lamb and Sword.
Today we will look at some more symbols for God’s holy Scriptures.

The Bible is called precious metals – GOLD and SILVER.
It is called this because the Bible is of such value!
It has great beauty, it is precious.
It is greatly to be desired, much more than ordinary gold and silver.

Read about this in Psalm 119:127 and Psalm 12:6.

The Bible is re-ferred to as good, nour-ish-ing food – MILK, MEAT, BREAD, HONEY.
It is called food because it gives life and strength to our spirits.
We cannot keep going in life without God’s Word, the Bible.
Could you go hiking for a week without food? No, of course not.
Neither can you go for a week in the Christian walk without the nour-ish-ment of God’s milk, meat, bread and honey.
Have a look at 1 Peter 2:2; Hebrews 5:12-14; John 6:51; Psalm 19:10.

God’s holy Scriptures are called a HAMMER.
A hammer can tear down and build up. The Bible does this.
It tears down all our sinful, foolish thoughts and ways.
And it builds up new ways and fills our minds with the beauty of Jesus Christ.
Read about it in Jeremiah 23:29.

The Lord God’s special book, the Bible, is called a FIRE.
Why is it a fire? Because it judges people, makes them pure like a fire makes things pure. And the Bible “burns” up the awful rubbish that is in our lives and hearts.
Have a look at Jeremiah 20:9 and Luke 24:32 to see about this FIRE.

You might need some help to read those Bible verses, and understand them.
Reading the Bible is a wonderful thing.
God talks about the good results that happen when children grow up reading God’s Word, praying and obeying the Lord.
It gives kids

GOLD,
SILVER,
MILK,
MEAT,
BREAD,
HONEY,
A HAMMER and
A FIRE

“And that from a child thou hast [you have] known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee [you] wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.”

And what happens to a child who is trained in this wonderful way?
“That the man [or woman] of God may be perfect, thor-ough-ly furnished unto all good works [God’s Word has given that child a character that is Godly, sound and right-e-ous].” (11 Timothy 3:15-17.
