Danny
wanted to be chosen for the debating team.
He
wanted to get up at the micro-phone, like a preacher, and talk out his
points.
He
stuttered a bit sometimes.
When
it come time for his try at debating, he got nervous.
He
had been so good at home, talking in front of the mirror.
But
when he got up in the school audi-tor-ium he mucked up, really badly!
He
stuttered and lost his place in his notes.
Buzz
Nolan, a boy who was full of himself, got chosen for the team.
And
Danny didn’t get picked at all. He thought it wasn’t fair.
The
teacher just said, “Maybe another time. Don’t
be discouraged.”
But
he felt passed over and dumb.
We
all like to be chosen, don’t we.
We
like to be the one who is specially asked to help.
We
like it when the teacher says, “Will you be
in the play?”
Or
when he says, “I’m sure you can tell us the
answer to this question.”
I
want to tell you something wonderful about you and God.
He
has chosen you especially for Himself.
If
you are saved, if you are born-again, you have been chosen by God!
The Bible tells us about it
That
is true!
God
worked in your heart until you wanted to come to Him to be saved.
Not
only that, but He has a plan for you.
That
is why He saved you.
He
wants you to “bear fruit” of
the Holy Spirit
EXTRAS FOR TEENS AND BETWEENS
God
has chosen you for His assignment, to bear fruit of the Holy Spirit.
To
be on His “ambassador” to be His “ordained” one.
To
be His witness in this wicked world.
You
are called by God to be like an ambassador in a foreign country!
When
we are saved ones we are part of the Body of Christ, His special Church.
Not
a building made with bricks, but a company of believers all over the world.
Other
kids may reject you because you are a Christian, but they do not realise
that God has chosen you. They are not yet chosen in Him. But they may well
be later on in their lives. God has planted you in the very soil where
you are. So that your fruit will grow, and so it will “remain.”The family
you have, the house you live in (or the apartment or caravan trailer).
The neighbourhood and Christian people you know. They are your “environment”
to grow in, so you will bear fruit. Those who bear fruit have this
great promise
“...go
and bring forth fruit...
that
whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name,
he
may give it you.”
