Getting to know God together.

Bruce was really upset this time! His “nerves” always got the better of him.
It didn’t matter how hard he tried at school he always did badly in the end.
If it was sport, he would fall over his feet because he was “nervous.”
If it was exams, or even just a test, he would get anxious and muddled, and do badly.
He just couldn’t take things easy, and he tried so hard to do well at his studies and sport. Now, after studying and studying for days, he could hardly even bear to do the maths test at school. It was tomorrow too! He wanted to pretend to be sick!

That night Mum and Dad talked to him about it. “Now listen, you have put a lot of work into preparing for the maths test, you should do very well. You are not a stupid boy, quite smart really,” said Mum proudly. “Well, you love me, and you always think I’m good at stuff, “ groaned Bruce. “No one else does, because I get so nervous and worried on the day.” Dad said that prayer would make all the difference, and they would pray right away.
So they did, and Bruce prayed this:
“Dear God,
You know I have studied hard, but I need Your help.
I need You to calm me down and help me do my best,
because I never do my best when tests are on.
Please help me, Lord. Amen.

Next day Bruce still felt upset and anxious. But he thought about God helping him all the way to school in the bus. He pretended he had his hand in God’s hand, and whispered to Him,
“You will have to do it for me, Father, I can’t do this, I really can’t!”
His class had the maths test after the lunch recess. Bruce couldn’t eat anything, not even the doughnut Mum had told him to buy, his stomach was churning like a cement mixer. Then the bell rang, and time was up. “Oh Father God, here we go!” he whispered.

When the class was seated, the papers were handed out. Bruce got his, and then the miracle happened. He felt really calm, all at peace, and his stomach wasn’t churning any more. The questions looked easy enough, so he settled down and worked quietly and confidently at them - until to his surprise they were all finished. They were collected, and everyone filed out to recess. It seemed so quick and easy. Bruce went away by himself and thanked the Lord for helping him so wonderfully.

Next day the results came in, and Bruce had answered all but one question correctly.
A smart-aleck girl came up to him, “you must have cheated, “she said, “or did the goody goody little boy study up real goody?” “I always study, “answered Bruce, “but this time I had special help.” He left it at that, Bernice was wanting to have an argument. So he walked off. He knew now how to get help from God - he only had to ask Him and trust Him. Wow!

Christian kids should always do their best, no use being lazy about study. But after they have studied, they can ask God to help them remember their lessons. They can ask Him to be with them in any situation they face. They can ask Him to give them His peace. Jesus loves you, and He wants to help you in every way to be a successful human being. Nothing is too small for the Lord Jesus to care about, if it is a problem to you, then He cares about it too! He loves you so much.

“ Be careful (worried or upset) for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication (humble asking) with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God (ask Him for what you need.) And the peace of God, which passeth (passes) all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
(Philippians 4:6,7).
