Getting to know God together.

My son and his family have gone for a week’s holiday. So we have their guinea pig and their dog, Jeanie, staying with us. My dog, Dolly, was so jealous at first of Jeanie, and growled and showed her teeth. Now they are friends, but not real good ones. If I pat Jeanie, Dolly comes from nowhere to get close to me and push Jeanie out! Dolly is not so good about the guinea pig either. She sits all days watching the pig in its cage. I know she wants to get it and rough it up; or even chew it up for dinner. Have you noticed how animals are violent and eat other animals, and fight and are often cruel? Surely God didn’t make them like that in the beginning? Did He? No, He didn’t!

I had a poodle named Sweetums once. We had a mother hen and her chickens walking around our yard. Sweetums was always following those chickens, and I thought it was so cute. I imagined that my poodle thought the chickens were like pups, and she was wanting to mother them. That was until I saw her eating one! Sweetums wanted to hunt the chickens, just like she would have if she was a wolf out in the wild hunting prey. Isn’t it sad that animals eat each other and are vicious often?

People are not much better really. Have you ever wondered why so many people hate each other? Why do some have to be put in prison? Why are people so selfish? Why do some mothers or fathers leave their children to look after themselves? Why do some homes break up, and divorces happen? Why do people have to die? Why do grown-ups cry because they are so broken-hearted? Why do we get sick, and why is there so much pain in the world? And why do we do the kind of things that make God sad? And why is it so hard to be good?

God DIDN’T make things that way in the beginning. He made a perfect world, but that awful thing SIN has spoiled the world and everything in it. The Bible tells us it is a fallen world, but one day God will make it perfect again. I’m so glad that Jesus Christ will come again to our earth, and have His own kingdom right here, and make a wonderful earth. In the mean time, Jesus will save anyone from their sin, anyone who comes to Him. Have you come to Jesus to be saved?

“And this is the record (we have a record of this wonderful fact)
that God hath given us eternal life,
and this life is in his Son (Jesus Christ).” ( I John 5:11,12).

What do you know about the devil? No, that is not a nice subject. But it is one that the Bible tells us all about, so we should look into it. If there was no Devil, then mankind would have to take all the blame for all the sin and trouble and sorrow on the earth. But the Bible makes it plain that the Devil has caused so much of the sorrow, grief, heartache, failure and horror on the earth. Some kids make the mistake of imagining the Devil as a man in a red suit with horns on his head, with a long tail, and a pitch fork in his hand. Having such ideas is not very wise! The Devil is real, and he is a powerful spiritual being. It is the Devil who “tempts” us to do wrong. It is the Devil who causes the wars and horrors on the earth. His time is short!

There is Someone Who is far greater than the Devil in spiritual power, He is the Lord Jesus Christ. If we are to stand against the Devil we need to know the Word of God. Everyone who simply trusts and obeys Jesus Christ is assured of victory over Satan, the Devil. Satan is in the world as a supernatural enemy, but the Bible says this:

“Greater is He that is in you (Jesus Christ),
that he that is in the world (the Devil).”

(I John 4:4).

“Casting all your care upon him; f
or he (Jesus Christ) careth for you.
Be sober (serious about this),
be vigilant (on your guard);
because your adversary (enemy) the devil, as a roaring lion,
walketh about, seeking whom he may devour
( he wants to spoil your life): “ ( I Peter 5:7,8).
