Getting to know
God together.

The Bible tells us of some really mighty men of God. Paul was one of them.
The adventures he had with the Lord were so exciting, sometimes dangerous, but always wonderful in God. I will tell of you some of his adventures, and maybe it will encourage you to read all about it in the Bible.

Paul was getting a lot of trouble from his enemies when he was in a place called Dam-as-cus. He couldn’t get out of the city, but his friends let him down in a basket-over the city wall! I would have liked to have seen that. (Acts 9:20-25).

Paul was in ship wreck one time. But everyone was saved. (Acts 27:41-44).

Paul was once bitten by a deadly poisonous snake in a place called Malta! But God made sure his servant was O.K. (Acts 28:1-6).

He was in the middle of great brawl in Acts 19:23-30. It was all to do with a man who made silver shrines and stuff for the fake goddess ,Diana.

Paul had many nasty escapes from danger as well. He was chained up, sent to prison, whipped and even kings argued with him! You can read about these things in the book of Acts. It is the Acts of Jesus Christ as He used His dis-ci-ples for His work of spreading the Gospel. Dis-ci-ples are followers, and the Gospel means Good News.

Paul bravely told King Agrippa and his wife all about his life, and about the Lord Jesus Christ coming to earth. Here are some verses from the Bible telling you about Paul’s talk with King Agrippa:
“Having therefore obtained help of God [ Paul says God gave him help], I continue unto this day, wit-nessing both to small and great [ Paul told everyone, important and not so important ], saying none other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come [ these were the writers of the Old Testament]: That Christ should suffer, and that he should be the first that should rise from the dead, and should shew light unto the people, and to the Gentiles [ people who are not Jews ].” (Acts 26:22,23).

When Paul had finished speaking to the king, another very important man yelled out at him:
“ And as he thus spake for himself, Festus said with a loud voice, Paul, thou art beside thyself [ all muddled up and excited ]; much learning doth make thee mad [ you are mad Paul, a nut! ].  But he said, I am not mad, most noble Festus; but speak forth the words of truth and sober-ness [ serious things ].” (Acts 26:25).

You might have to be brave sometimes to stand up for Jesus and God’s Word.
If you do you will be a hero of the faith! God gives special JOY inside a person when they are brave and stand for Jesus Christ in difficult situations. JOY is a happiness right inside you that makes your heart sing - even when things are tough.

Here is what the Bible says:
“Blessed are ye [ happy in God are you ], when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company [ tell you to get lost! ], and shall reproach you [ tell you are wrong and muddled ], and cast out your name as evil [ don’t want to even say your name ], for the Son of man's sake [ for Jesus’ sake ]. Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy: for, behold, your reward is  great in heaven: for in the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets [ people did this in times gone by to the mighty men and women of God ].”  (Luke 6:22,23).
