Getting
to know God together.
.
I
lived in a big city once, the Gold Coast city, Surfer's Paradise.
Now
I live in a small town.
Where
do you live?
Maybe
it is a big city where millions of people live too.
Cities
can be exciting, but they can make kids go wrong sometimes.
Some
city kids follow others into bad ways.
Even
small kids can see things they shouldn't see.
They
might see street kids who are on drugs roaming around.
They
might see old men in rags, real dirty, sleeping on park benches.
You
might see young people drinking from whisky bottles.
In
Surfer's I worked to help street kids at a Christian centre.
Even
in Australia where it is so lovely, and free, there are 'lost" children.
When
I say "lost" I mean they are lost inside themselves.
They
don't know where they are.
Some
of those street kids once had mums and dads,
nice
rooms, plenty to eat and clean clothes.
Now
here they were in our centre begging for money for drugs,
trying
to run from the police!
It
is not a nice world out there.
Do
you know what the word "tempt" means?
A
person who "tempts" someone is a person who tries to get you to do wrong.
They
might tempt you to look at dirty pictures.
They
might tempt you to sniff something, or take a pill.
They
might want you to pinch something.
Obeying the rules at home can be a bit of a drag at times.Don't do it!
Why not make a "SAY NO!" rule right now.
Prayer:
"Children
obey your parents in the Lord,
for
this is right.
Honour
thy father and thy mother, "
(Ephesians
6:1,2).
EXTRAS FOR TEENS AND BETWEENS
They
are wrong to think there is no hope for the world.
Jesus
Christ will one day come back and make this world brand new,
and
He will reign over it as King for a thousand years.
The
future for our world is thrilling, so get on the side of the Coming King
right now.
Read
I John 5:11-15.
(This
is the John near the end of the New Testament, not the Gospel John).
"And
we know that the Son of God is come,
and
hath given us an understanding,
that
we may know him that is true..." (I
John 6:20).
