Getting to know God together.

.
I love MacDonald's food!
I love Big Macs and fries, and I love that soft serve icecream with hot chocolate sauce.
I really enjoy iced doughnuts, and chocolate frogs with caramel inside them.
[But I should not !]

When you eat those things you want to eat them always.
But could you really live on them?
If you only had "junk food" for a whole year you would grow fat, you would be covered in pimples and you would not be well at all.
We need really healthy food to grow a healthy body.
It is OK to have some food just for fun,
as long as we eat fruit and vegetables and stuff like that as well.

Anyway, there's nothing that really tastes as nice as a bowl of home-made vege soup, with a crusty bread roll straight from the oven! Yumm! I love that better still.

When Jesus Christ came into your life He made your spirit come alive.
Now you have to feed your spirit, just like you have to feed your body. You want to have a strong healthy spirit inside, that's for sure. And you don't want it to get sick because you only feed your spirit  junk food.
Some kids only feed their spirits junk food. They watch television, read comic books, play computer games, but they never feed their spirits from the Word of God. That is bad news.
How can our spirits grow if we don't feed them on the Living Bread. The Bible's wonderful words are Living Bread. Jesus said:

"It is written,
That man shall not live by bread alone,
but by every word of God." (Luke 4:4).

Food is very important for our bodies.
If you got lost in the bush up in the outback of Australia, and you were starving,
you would give a bag of gold for a bag of plain old bread.
The Bible tells us that "every word of God" is more important than even bread is!
Jesus Christ was out in the desert for forty days without food.
Then the devil came to try to make Him turn away from the Heavenly Father.
The devil said,

"If thou be the Son of God,
command this stone that it be made bread."

And Jesus told him where to go!
He said that He lived by "every word of God."
Jesus wouldn't swap doing what His Father wanted Him to do, just to have food.
How important then is God's Word, it is more important even than food for our bodies.

You can have a spiritual feast today.

Here is some spirit food for you.
Find it in your Bible, or get someone to help you.
Psalm 48:14;  Matthew 6:8;  Matthew 24:35

EXTRAS FOR TEENS AND BETWEENS

"Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way?
by taking heed thereto according to thy word.
Thy word have I hid in mine heart,
that I might not sin against thee." (Psalm 119:9,11).
Some people live all their lives without God.
You see such people when they are old filled with bitterness and regret.
They have lived without life in their spirits, ignoring God,
and they end up hating the life they lived.
Howard Hughes, a famous American, lived his whole life to get money and power.
He died in a mess. When he was old he was filled with regret and disappointment.
He must have thought that life was meaningless, because he had lived for the wrong reason, and had sold out his life for money.
In the end he never went out of his house, he was utterly miserable, although he was a billionaire! One of the richest men on earth,  at that time but the poorest.

Feeding the spirit on God's Word will enable you to grow into a fine adult.
You can then live successfully, and end up when you are old with no regrets,
no "if onlys."
Take in spiritual food every day, obey what God gives you,
and you will be a healthy Christian.
That is the way to a successful  life.

"Seek you first the kingdom of God and His righteousness,
and all these things will be added unto you." (Matthew 6:33)
