Getting to know
God together.

Nardia was staying at Tahnee’s house for the weekend. On the Saturday morning Tahnee’s aunt Marion came by with her two year old boy, Bobby. “I have to go to get a check-up at the hospital, “ she said. “Would you people look after Bobby for me? I will be gone about two hours.“ The girls were delighted, and Tahnee’s mother and father would be there as well. Bobby was smiling and gurgling. They would have lots of fun with him - they thought.

But after Bobby’s mum had gone everything changed. He didn’t know his relatives very well, he had never stayed with them by himself. So he soon began to cry, and fuss, and even yell! It was pretty awful. Nothing could make him settle down. The girls did everything they could to make Bobby happy, but he just didn’t feel safe without his mother. They pushed him in his stroller. They made him toast with butter and honey. They got out toys and books. Nothing did any good. Then at last his mother came back, rushing in the front door, and Bobby saw her. He toddled up to her and threw himself into her arms! What a changed boy he was. He snuggled up in her arms, glaring at every-one else, and he looked happy and safe again. All he needed was his mum. He didn’t want presents from her, or promises, or for her to explain. All was right again because she was there with him. He didn’t cry a single tear after she came.

Our Heavenly Father is like that to His spiritual children. He, Himself, is so precious that He, Himself, is enough to be our happiness and safety. Just to know that we are with Him and He is with us is enough. God gives us promises in His Word, that is true and good. But when we really know Him as a sweet, sweet Presence in our lives, promises are not nearly as important as just being with the Lord Himself. It is HIM that we want. You are only at the beginning of your life. You can learn now to walk with your God. In Him the secret of happiness, safety and peace are found. Only in Him. Let God be your loving Father and your whole life will be a success. Let’s have a look at what God’s wonderful Word says about it:

“God is our refuge [ the place to run to and be safe ] and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though the waters there-of roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling there-of. ... God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early. ... Be still, and know that I am God: ...” (Psalm 46).

Bobbys mother would never have forgotten to come for Bobby. She loves him and she knew he would miss her. Our Heavenly Father knows how much you need Him  too, ever if you are not really aware of this yet. He will never forget you, neglect you or turn His back on you. He knows everything about you, He can manage everything to do with you. He has wonderful plans for your life. He loves you as only God can. Nothing can ever take away from you the God of all comfort. Don’t ever run away from Him . Just being with Him is the secret of happiness:

“For I am persuaded [ I can see it all ], that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor princi-palities [ high spirit beings ], nor powers, nor things present [ things happening now ], nor things to come [ in the future ], Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” ( Romans 8: 38,39).

You, my God, will “comfort me on every side.” (Psalm 71:21).
