Deborah was woman who had an important  job!
She was a  Judge [Ruler] in Israel, a long time ago.
Her story is found in Judges 4 and 5.

Her name means a "bee."
She was also a woman who specially heard from God.
She was a "prophetess." She had special knowledge and power.
God told her two important things.
He told her to get another Judge [Ruler], Barak, a man,
and go out against their enemies.
The Lord was angry with Israel because they had done wrong things.
So God did not stop the evil king, Jabin, and his bad captain,
Sisera, from winning over Israel.
And God told Deborah another woman,
was going to have a victory over this evil man.

One day  Deborah was under  her palm tree, and the people of Israel came to her.
She called  Barak  and said,
"God says you are to go to mount Tabor  and take ten thousand soldiers with you.
God has  given you an order.
And God will take you to the river, and He will defeat Sisera for us."
Barak seemed a bit afraid. And he said he would only go if Deborah went too.
She  said, "I will  surely  go with thee. "
Then she told him  another woman would get rid of Sisera for them!
How did she know? God told her.

So out they went, Deborah and Barak, and took ten thousand soldiers.
And sure enough Jabin the wicked king of Canaan was defeated and all his men.
What about the captain, Sisera?
He was defeated all right. A woman named Jael killed him.
God showed His hand of victory, and used two women to do it!
Praise God!

You might to be a girl, and think that God could never use you in an important way.
That is not so. God has used lots of women and girls in many wonderful  ways.
And God uses many men and boys as well.
A PRAYER:
" Help us all to be ready to serve You, Lord.
Help me to have faith in You in every way, no matter what happens. Amen."

"Be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might." (Ephesians 6:19).

You might wonder if ANY wars  can be  good!
How can soldiers and battles be of God?
Why are there wars on earth?
There are no wars that happen because God  really wants  wars to happen.
He wanted the earth to be at peace, but sin entered the earth when Adam and  Eve disobeyed the Lord in the Garden of Eden. Wars must be fought often on this earth! Nations can  come under the control of very  wicked men and the whole nation can become a dangerous threat to everyone on earth.
This is what happens in World War II. The nations who band together  against  evil can become rather like policemen,  who stop murderers and robbers in our cities and towns. Germany's Hitler had to be stopped, and brave soldiers gave their lives to stop him. So that  the world could live freely and in peace.

Love not this wicked world, but love God instead...
God tells us in His word in the book of Revelation, that in Christ's Reign on earth of 1000 years, there will be no war.
