Getting
to know God together.
God
made everything!
That
is why we call Him "Creator."
It
means that He "created" all things.
We
read about His creation in Genesis chapter one.
Read
verse
one, and verses 20-25.
Now
read verse 26. It tells about God making man.
"Man"
means people.
God
made everything out of NOTHING!
Every
time we make things, we have to make them out of something else.
But
God "created" when there was nothing to make things out of!
Let's think about that:
Have
you read the Bible verses above?
Name
three things that God made out of just nothing.
You
might be thinking, "I can make a picture
out of nothing."
But
you had to have a piece of paper,
and
you had to have a pencil or crayons or felt pens.
Some
people say there is no God.
But
the first chapter of Genesis shows us that there is a God.
Some
people say that God didn't make everything, they say we just came from
apes.
But
Genesis 1 shows us that God did make everything, He created.
Some
people say there are lots of gods.
But
Genesis 1 shows us that there is only One God.
Some
people say that nature is God.
But
Genesis 1 shows us that God made nature.
He
was there before nature was. Man is NOT God either.
Some
people say that there was no beginning to our world.
But
Genesis 1 shows us there was a beginning.
Some
people say that nothing matters.
But
the whole Bible shows us God has a plan and a purpose for each one of us!
We
matter, and our lives matter, because God has make us for Himself.
EXTRAS FOR TEENS AND BETWEENS
"In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth." (Gen.1:1).
How
simple that statement is!
God
does not argue or debate with man, He just tells him straight out -
I
am the Creator of all!
The
word "heaven" is plural in Hebrew, which this verse was written in, in
the first place. There are three heavens, and God made them all!
He
made the earth in just six days, and rested on the seventh day.
There
are many reasons why we know that these were days of twenty four hours.
One
is that the Hebrew word "day" indicates this.
The
Hebrew word for day is "yom."
Meaning
an ordinary, 24 hour day.
Perhaps
you would like to hear about those three heavens? well, maybe I will write
about them next time.
It
is a really interesting subject.
"And
God said, Let us make man in our image,
after
our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea,
and
over fowl of the air, and over cattle,
and
over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon
the earth.
And
so God created man in his own image,
in
the image of God created he him: male and female created he them.
And
God blessed them, and God said,
Be
fruitful, and multiply,
and
replenish the earth, and subdue it."
(Genesis 1;26 - 28).
