Getting to know
God together.

Jenny, Jill, Margie, Tahni and Karen were having a real ball!  They were having a sleep-over pyjama party. They had cooked sausages and prawns on the bar-be-que, and made hot chocolate with marshmallows. Now they were in their jamas ready to play their favourite music and put clear vanish on their nails. Jenny had her hair in jumbo curlers. Margie was going to dry it with the hair-dryer and do a special style for her. They turned the CD player on and waited for music - none came! Karen, who owned the player, gave the thing a bit of a shake. Still no music! After getting all upset, and wasting a long of time complaining and fussing,  finally the girls saw that the machine wasn’t plugged in! There was no electricity coming through. There was no connec-tion. Oh dear, how silly!  It soon worked when they plugged it in!

We can be like that in our Christian lives too. We might get real upset about stuff because we have no connection with God in our problems. How does this work out?  Well you might have set your heart on being in a certain sports team. If you don’t get in the team you think “I will DIE!”  This means your life is not plugged into Jesus Christ! God has told us this:
“ In all thy ways acknowledge [ remember God is with you and trust ] him, and he shall direct thy paths.”  (Proverbs 3:6).
If you had asked Jesus if He would direct your path, then He would be the One to decide if you get on that team, or not.  If you are “connected” with Jesus you will leave things like that in God’s hands, and let Him decide. So that makes you real peaceful inside. You will think, “if God wants me on that team I will be. I will leave it to Him.”

If you are “plugged in” to God’s will and power you will NOT say,“I can’t stop doing that!” Do you have a problem with doing something bad?  You think you can’t ever stop doing it?  Maybe it is dirty thoughts, or eating too much or even taking drugs! Maybe you are only young and your problems are more like losing your temper and having tantrums! Do you say to yourself, “I can’t stop doing that!” This means your connec-tion with God is broken. Your life is not plugged in!  the Lord would give you the power to win over sin, if you trusted Him - not yourself. Satan will tell you that you can’t win over sin. He will say “you are weak and hopeless!”  But God has said this:

“ .[ God has said} ..My grace [ God’s power given to you freely ] is sufficient [ more than enough] for thee [ you ]: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly there-fore will I rather glory in my infirmities [ troubles and problems I can’t handle], that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”
( II Corinthians 12:9).

Perhaps you are upset with things in your life and say, “I can’t stand it any more!” If you are plugged into Jesus He will make you patient, and help you to wait for God’s answers. He will keep you in peace, and make you happy and calm. Trust Him. Plug in! Talk to the Lord, and let Him handle your life:
“Be careful [ worried] for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication [ humbly asking ] with thanksgiving [ thanking God ] let your requests be made known unto God.  And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding [ it is so great that it is beyond our understanding], shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. “  (Philippians 4:6,7).
