Getting to know God together.

Young people are often confused about “evo-lu-tion.” Evolution is mentioned so often in nature study films and videos, and schools teach it all the time (real Christian schools don’t however).
Kids should think about this question:
“Can believers in Jesus Christ and God’s Bible
believe in evolution as well?”

Well, lambs of God, we had better think first about what kind of evolution we mean.
To “evolve” can just mean to change, and Christian believers can certainly believe in that. We can see natural “change” all around us. Once you were a baby, now you are turning slowly into an adult. People can breed new varieties of plants and animals, they are “changed.” Roses, for an example, are so much better today than a hundred years ago. Lots of new rose varieties, and they have blooms on them for much longer periods too. They have “changed” or “evolved.” New dog and cat breeds have “evolved” as types have been mixed up, and new and changed kinds of puppies and kittens are born. Wild animals have changed their bodies over centuries to adapt to their surroundings.
So Christians can believe in that kind of “evo-lu-tion” or change.

But, there is a much greater kind of evolution than that which some people believe in. And that kind of evolution Christians cannot believe. This evolution says that everything is changing all the time, and that it will happen on and on always. The evolution people believe everything is getting better and better. This evolution says that everything living started from chemicals that were not alive. Evolution says that very complicated forms of life, like people themselves, “evolved” from very simple non-living chemicals. This evolution says that mankind once had apes as ancestors - apes are supposed to be our great, great, great etc grandfathers and grandmothers! That is a pretty awful thing to imagine and believe to be true, I reckon. That kind of evolution is rather nasty because it wants to cut God out, and make-believe other ideas about our origins than what God’s Word tells us. Some Christians might be tricked into thinking they can believe in God AND that kind of evolution at the same time, but they can’t really. Let’s think about that some more.

Don’t believe God’s Word when it says that GOD created the earth and the heavens and all living things. They don’t believe that you and I and all people were made by God either. Ten whole times in the first chapter of the Bible, Genesis 1, God tells us that plants and animals were made to have babies and new plants “after their kinds.” That means that God made apes to give birth to more apes, not men! And fishes never have dogs, and plants don’t turn eventually into something “higher” like mammals. God tells us something went wrong with the world, SIN, and everything went bad because of this. So evolution people are not right when they say things are getting better all the time, are they.

God’s Word in Genesis shows that the first man and woman, Adam and Eve, didn’t come from chemicals or apes. Genesis shows that plants and fishes and animals and humans were made as themselves in the beginning. Evolution people say that the book of Genesis is just an old, old story that is not true, a myth. But Jesus Christ Himself certainly believed that Genesis was quite true and made no mistakes. He showed that Genesis had the Creator’s own authority!
I sure believe that Jesus Christ knew what He talking about.
So I cannot believe in evolution.
Evolution is not really a science, it is a religion,
and a pagan one at that:
This is what Jesus said about the record of Creation in Genesis. He shows that He believes it is God’s record. He shows that God made the first humans as a man and a woman, not apes.  And Jesus shows that God made people so they could get married and have babies just like themselves:

“...Have ye not read, that he {God} which made [them] at the beginning made them male [a man} and female [a woman],  And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain [two] shall be one flesh?  Wherefore they are no more twain [two], but one flesh.” (Matthew 19:4-6).

Tomorrow we will talk about "Ligers" and "mules".
