REVIVAL IN MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA
By Peter Wreford

Dear G. Revival is definitely on God’s agenda. Following outbreaks of revival elsewhere, K. and L. G. along with a worship team from Sunderland are speakers at a three-day conference at Westside Church, Melbourne, Australia. And a new manifestation of the Holy Spirit’s presence is very much in evidence: strong conviction of sin and an overwhelming desire for repentance. The first two nights in Melbourne have seen similar scenes with people literally running to the altar before the call is even given, determined to make their peace with God. Tonight’s service (Wed 29 Oct 97) carried a very strong presence of the Holy Spirit. There was great hilarity, a wonderful sense of the nearness of God, a holy boldness on the leaders and a strong conviction of sin and the need for repentance. All the ingredients of Revival. We are certainly living in exciting days. After a long period of strongly anointed worship of the Lord, Church Pastor K. F. got up to lead in prayer, welcome visitors and take the offering. As he spoke a holy boldness settled almost visibly on him and he spoke powerfully of the plans God has for revival in Australia. The entire congregation clapped and cheered as they recognised he was not simply speaking on his own, but that the Holy Spirit seemed to be endorsing his words.

As K... stood to speak another hallmark of the Holy Spirit was evident: variety. We worshipped; we laughed; we cried; we sought God. Then K... felt led to call the Senior Pastors forward and he challenged the forty or so men and women to say ‘Yes’ to the Holy Spirit as he sought to lead them forward another thousand cubits. (cf.. Ezek 47) He spoke powerfully about the effects of limited anointing and our need to expand in God, then formed a makeshift fire tunnel with L... for these men and women to walk through. Few made it through on their feet. Many didn’t make it through at all and had to be dragged to one side to allow others to receive prayer and impartation . I anticipate that many will mark this day as the beginning of an increase in the effectiveness of their ministry.

Also carrying a holy boldness, K... continued to preach, surrounded by those slain in the Spirit who covered the floor around him, and pressed the need for holiness and repentance of sin. As he drew to a close people started spontaneously running to the front to get right with God and suddenly the vast bulk of the 5-600 strong congregation were at the front pressing through to God for forgiveness and cleansing. A separate call for those who needed salvation or restoration from backsliding saw at least eight respond. An awesome service, very clearly marked by the spirit of revival.

More, Lord....Peter Wreford

NEWS ON CHRISTIAN TELEVISION EUROPE.
From `Belfast Berean Website'

http://members.aol.com/dgmaceom/indexpage.htm

Despatch has a copy of that letter sent to I.T.C. Europe. A snippet from this hard-hitting letter: “...The Christian Channel Europe seems to reflect a particular strand of American ‘Christianity’ which is offensive to many Christians. In one instance an advert is played where Jesus Christ is being crucified on the television of a bar. At the bar a man asks the question, ‘isn’t there anything else on?’

This is both a shocking trivialisation of the death of the Lord Jesus Christ and is offensive to many people... the teaching in the broadcasts are neither Christian nor encouraging and certainly at given times, some people following their teachings could put their lives in danger....”

FINGER PRINTING ON THE RISE!

In the USA fingerprinting, once reserved for suspected criminals and hoodlums, is becoming a "national plague" according to the Electronic Privacy Information Center (EPIC) in Washington, D.C.

The FBI estimated that it will process 14 million requests for fingerprints. In January 1998, Michigan parents were outraged when administrators of the state's standardised education tests apparently broke the law by requiring 122,000 public school fifth-graders to submit their fingerprints without parental permission. The fingerprints were collected as part of a science segment in this year's Michigan Educational assessment Program test. The 1985 Child Identification and Protection Act requires written permission for children to be fingerprinted unless the child is a delinquent or otherwise ordered to be fingerprinted by a judge.

Many states in the USA are using fingerprinting for drivers licenses. Banks in 27 states, have instituted policies which require fingerprinting for some people who cash cheques. Nearly every large bank in California now requires a fingerprint to cash a non-account holder's cheque and at least one bank also requires all customers opening new accounts to provide fingerprints. Fingerprinting on driver's licenses has become increasingly controversial. In Georgia, a campaign to repeal the fingerprinting requirements for licenses is under way."

BOOK REVIEW -

“THE LAST HOUR.”

The novel by Kim Young called “The Last Hour” is a dramatic fantasy about what the prophesied Rapture and Tribulation period may be like. The world is in chaos as massive disappearances span the globe, there is political upheaval, terrible disease, economic disasters, a sinister first lady of the USA, the emergence of the Antichrist, the power-hungry Pope, and even a romance. Kim pictures anti-Semitism and anti-Christian activity in the Last Hour, with heinous persecution.

The book is of particular interest to those who enjoy a novel, but would like one which does more than give pleasant relaxation. There is much which instructs in the book, without being “preachy”, some bits we found a bit confusing, some areas which could be clearer doctrinally, but Despatch readers may find this book a good read. It could wake up those Christians you know who are not aware of the nearness of the Tribulation. Handy also for young Christians who are not really interested in solid Bible study or heavy reading. Published by ACW Press, Phoenix Arizona.

I Thessalonians 4:16,17

"For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the arch-angel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first. Then we which are alive and reImages shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall ever be with the Lord."
