The following information was communicated to me the other day which has some bearing on our PK research. It seems that Dobson is setting up a state organization here in Iowa (I understand that there are 37 other states that have such organizations -- all bad news, part of the Christian Compromise Coalition). As the man who is heading this effort up was describing his (hundreds of thousands of dollars) new effort, he mentioned how easy it would be to lobby now. All he has to do, he said, was pick up the phone and contact all of the area Promise Keepers and men in suits (doctors and lawyers, etc.) would show up at the State Capitol for work for or against an issue.

Dobson has a notorious track record around the country of working behind other established organizations (that are truly Christian) and finding common ground with zany groups and individuals (some openly new age), as well as compromising on some essential areas of faith. This new networking with PK does not bode well for the rest of the country. In addition it further confirms our suspicions that PK is going to evolve into a social action movement (Joel's Army? [unscriptural at this point in the prophetic timetable) for the controlled right. Sarah Leslie

"...I just read with great interest the article from your webpage on [Change Agents No4.] "Is Dr. Dobson Focusing on Your Family?" To question him in America is unheard of, as you can well imagine--we listen often, get his magazine and have several of his books. I have a Goals 2000/OBE research manual which questions Dr. Dobson's connections to Bill Bennett. While the manual is soundly researched and documented, a friend of mine refused to read further and discounted the whole thing after seeing Dr. D. in a negative light!!

I called Focus one day when I was particularly distressed as I researched education "reform" in the U.S. When asked why they didn't do more programs on what is really going on, they made some excuse about having to be middle of the road and not too controversial. What is going on here is horrible, and if Focus really cares about families, they should be bombarding parents with what is really going on in education so we can try to stop it..
