“The Pepsicola (sorry!) Pensacola Outpouring:
Is this the next stage of the TE? (Toronto ‘revival’). It is said that
people start queuing at 3:30pm for the 7pm service at Brownsville Assembly
of God in Pensacola, Florida. It is said this new version of the TE, which
is what it is, started in a Sunday service when people felt ‘something
like a wind blowing through the church’. Some began to weep, others to
tremble and some fell to the floor. The catalyst seems to be a British
evangelist Ian Hill who received the TE at Holy Trinity Brompton, went
to Brownsville for a campaign and stayed. It is said that he preaches,
invites people to ‘Come to Christ’ and shouts ‘run’ (the hypnotic key word?)
and there is a stampede to get to the front for the laying on of hands.
It is said the atmosphere is ‘electric’.
Apply the same tests as for TE. Remember the human beings can only pass on to each other corruption and evil spirits. We cannot give away the Sovereign Spirit of God as and when we will. It is also helpful to understand that the demonic can dominate PLACES though it prefers to dwell in flesh. The domination comes about through direct human invitation or human depravity. God waits to be invited into human hearts and comes with blessing and peace. In News 5, I quoted an article from Renewal magazine describing the second anniversary conference of the beginnings of TE at the Toronto CF. The writers commented that ‘a strong sense of God’s love filled the whole building’. This atmosphere was example of demonic activity, as is an ‘electric’ one and the atmosphere at Medjugore and other Marian shrines.
It is said that up to 1,000 a week are being saved at Brownsville. A big question is: what gospel is being preached? It is said it is one of repentance and faith towards God, but is it?
Two Britons, who have visited Brownsville, Paul Mercer and Warwick Shenton are touring Britain calling for revival. They are encouraging people to put away their reservations, come out of their comfort zones, and be desperate for God. Sadly most of the AOG Regional Council Meeting at Yorkshire and Humberside, including the Regional Superintendent, are endorsing the outpouring. Most of the people at their meeting went forward to receive the Pensacola Outpouring. Those who did not were regarded coldly or received angry looks.”
THE POPE AND MARY - AD 2000.
“We are likely to hear repeated the Jubilee 2000 prayer which includes
the words ‘Together With Mary, the Star of Evangelisation, we make our
prayer through Jesus your Son’ and also prayers asking God to bless us
all ‘as we journey with faith, hope and love towards the Year 2000.”
The theme of rebirth with Mary as the Model of faith, hope and love, will be reiterated throughout the Church’s preparations for the year 2000, and the Pope insists that Mary WILL appear before the eyes of believers [in ‘1999. The third and final year of preparation’] as the perfect model of love toward both God and neighbour. [emphases ED’s]. “POPE’S OFFICIAL JUBILEE DATE:
The Pope has announced that the millennial jubilee will begin on 25
December 1999. On that night 1999, Pope John Paul 11 will officially open
the Jubilee celebrations for the year 2000, a major anniversary to remember
the birth of Jesus Christ (?). (Ecumenical News International News Highlights
5.12,96). Does he know that there was no AD 0?”
“AGLOW INTERNATIONAL has published a booklet
by Marie Powers entitled ‘Shame - The Thief of Intimacy.’
The front cover labels it as a ‘bible study’. There are, indeed, many
scriptures scattered throughout, however they hide a deadly mixture of
erroneous psychological theories from John Bradshaw and Robert Mc Gee’s
Rapha literature. Scripture lists only one instance where shame is experienced
by someone who is innocent. Because of our sin, not His own, Christ endured
the shame and public humiliation of the cross, focusing on the joy set
before Him Heb.12:2. Instead of dissecting the concept
of shame in an attempt to build “self-esteem”, identity, worth etc.,
let us look to the Saviour who suffered public disgrace on our behalf,
in order to redeem us from our sin. See Psalm 25:3; 34:5; 1 Peter 2:6.
However Satan can tempt us to take on board false shame. We deal with this
by examining the facts and rejecting the untrue suggestions.”
