Dear John,
I read your letter and am replying because
I sense a genuine and deep sorrow there! I too can hardly bear the thought
that the beautiful young girl we saw being married to Charles is now in
a Christless eternity!!! I am not "condemning" anyone to hell-fire, I have
no say in such things. Diana herself chose her own path, as we all do.
It is a horrifying tragedy, one which is repeated with many beautiful young
boys and girls in the world - some have never had one day of happiness
on earth either. This is the very reason that Jesus Christ came to the
earth to die for the sin of the world. To save the world, not to condemn
it.(John chapter three) It is not "judging" to say Diana was not a saved
person, it is obvious.
If she was saved, and she cared about people so much (and she did), she would have told them about being saved by Jesus Christ, she could not have helped it. If she was saved, she would not have gone to channelers and astrologers, she would not have been a full-on New Ager as she was - health treatments and the like. If she was saved she would have found the friends she mixed with unattractive as friends, she might have wanted to help them, but not to get her enjoyment of life from them. Elton John and Dodi El Fayed, and the rich and famous jet-setters, are not the kind of people Christians find exciting and they do not want to be with them for their own (the Christians') sakes.
If Diana was saved she would not have committed adultery over and again, she would not have been so agonized about no one loving her! And she was agonized, and I cared so much about it and prayed for her. If Diana was a Christian why would she want to marry a Muslim, she would have to become a Muslim then. Before that she wanted to be a Catholic! There is no evidence that she was a Christian, a person who wanted to do good yes, but not a born-again Christian. Unsaved people can want to help their neighbour you know, and some are very kind. But they are lost without accepting Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord.
What about other people who say they are Christians yet live lives which are not Christian? We are saved by Grace through faith, alone! But, when a person is saved they have a change occur inside them, they become new creatures. That does not mean they will live perfect lives, we all often do the wrong thing, we are not perfected yet. But a saved person WANTS to be pure and holy, to be like Jesus Christ. They are not looking for sinful things to do, because they think they can get away with it because of Grace. If a Pastor is living an immoral life, and has no sense of guilt or remorse, then he is not saved - no matter what his mouth bleets out.
Great to see the sensible comments of Tricia Tillin on E-mail. Brothers and sisters in Christ, get your act together. God is a Holy God, times are serious, we need sober evaluation of events - it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the Living, Holy Almighty!
Anyway, there are still a lot of things
to discuss in the subject, but will have to close here. Jesus Christ made
this absolutist statement,"I am the Way, the Truth and the Life, no man
cometh unto the Father but by me." (John 14:6).
Yours in Christ Jesus,
Wendy Howard
