Dear friends,

How amazingly events like those we have just lived through bring you back to the real issues of life!
Suddenly lesser things have no significance. It was a big shopping day for us yesterday, we always shop once a fortnight in style.
We have lunch out, maybe buy a few things like clothes, items for the house or plants. I enjoy these days. Yesterday was different, we hardly saw the point of going at all. Only the need for supplies drove us out. We are twenty thousand miles away from New York and Washington, but the monstrous events over in the USA seem as though they are happening down the road from us! All that mattered for us yesterday were the images we were seeing on the television screens, the grief, the camaraderie in adversity, the need for prayer, viewing ordinary people going through extraordinary horror. The sight of the human suffering and carnage filled our living room, the very atmosphere around us, our minds and our hearts. We ate it, slept it, felt it washing over our bodies in the shower, tasted it in the very air we breathed. The empathy is so intense that we are there in those twin cities of terror too! We went shopping, but with three or four newspapers on events in the USA under our arms. We sat in a coffee shop with the papers spread before us. There was a strange, quieter atmosphere in the mall, one of shock thinly hidden behind the masks fellow shoppers had adopted.

Today our national airline, Ansett, has collapsed due to bankruptcy. All of this is smelling like the New World Order, we are in a perilous period, one which could signal the global take-over we have been expecting. Some have reported in previous days that the Islamic religion is considered to be unable to be controlled by the New Age New World Order, that it is set to be destroyed by the global masters! Could we be seeing the beginning of this plan? One thing we can see here in Australia is that we will find movement difficult across our own country now, and that the international movement of tourists will be severely cut by the stringent restrictions which will happen because of the threat of war, and the fear of terrorism. Rallies are happening across Australia to protest the loss of jobs to the extent of 61,000 gone in one day – because of Ansett collapsing! Stand by, global control could happen big-time in the near future. What is really going on only our God knows. Don’t imagine that the global masters, the international power barons, care at all about the loss of human life! They want the population down globally, anyway.

The one thing alone that has made these last days bearable, that have made our own lives keep a balance and a peace, is the Lord Jesus Christ. His Presence has sustained us and continues to bring us sweet calm. We know that we are safe in Him, and our minds are kept in perfect peace as our eyes behold Him:

“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.
Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength::
(Isaiah 26: 3,4).
“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” ( John 14:27).

There was a story the great evangelist D.L. Moody once told about two children in a dark tunnel.
They had wandered into the tunnel when a train was heard coming! They began to run. The elder girl was ahead of her little brother when she felt a hollow in the rock face of the tunnel in the dark. Racing ahead of the train she yelled to her brother,
“get in the rock, get in the rock!” She managed to get through that dark tunnel, and to fling herself out of the train’s path. Going back she found her small brother safe and sound, hidden away in the cleft of the rock.

  • Do you know the speeding train of world disaster is rushing towards us all?

  • Jesus the Rock has a place just your size waiting to keep you safe and sound in the dark of this world.

    “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
    I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
    Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.
    He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;
    Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.
    A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.
    Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.
    Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;
    There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.
    For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.”   ( Psalm 91: 1-11).

    How to be sure you are saved.

    It is a simple thing to accepted Jesus as Saviour.
    He loves you and died for you.
    He rose again from the dead.
    He has defeated death for you.
    He is not willing that you should perish along with the wicked of this evil world. COME TO HIM:
    Turn from sin and self;
    Come to the Lord right now;
    Trust Him alone to save you and give you everlasting life with God;
    Ask Him into your heart and life;
    Thank Him for coming in and dwelling with you forever.

    “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:” ( Ephesians 2:8).
    “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” ( Matthew 11:28).

    Back in the 1800s a grief-stricken father lost his four daughters in a boating accident.
    All four girls were drowned. That father knew the Lord Jesus as his Saviour and Lord.
    He rowed out to the spot where his daughters had drowned and penned these victorious words of the beloved hymn:

    “When peace like a river, attendeth my way,
     When sorrows like sea-billows roll,
    Whatever my lot, Thou hast taught me to say.
    It is well, it is well with my soul.

    It is well, it is well, it is well, it is well with my soul.

    Tho Satan should buffet, tho trials should come,
    Let this blest assurance control,
    That Christ hath regarded my helpless estate,
     And hath shed His own blood for my soul.

    It is well, it is well, it is well, it is well with my soul.

    My sin – O the bliss of this glorious thought,
    My sin, not in part, but the whole,
    Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more:
    Praise the Lord, praise the lord, O my soul!

    It is well, it is well, it is well, it is well with my soul.

    And, Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight,
    The clouds be rolled back as a scroll:
    The trump shall re-sound and the Lord shall descend,
    Even so – it is well with my soul.”

    It is well, it is well, it is well, it is well with my soul.
